WOMEN OF

Praise Lydia E. Pinkham’s
Vegetable Compound
Mrs. Annie Kwinskl of 526 Ist Ave
nue, Milwaukee, Wis., writes that she
j became so weak and
run down that she
was n °t a ' , ' e
her housework She
saw the name Lydia
E. Pinkham’s Vege
table Compound in
the paper and said
to her husband, “I

will help me.” She
MPHggl!S s &. y says she took six
WMMatet 4 bottles and is feel
ing much better.
Mrs. Mattle Adams, who lives in
Downing Street, Brewton, Ala., writes
as follows: "A friend recommended
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Com
pound and since taking it 1 feel like
a different woman.”
With her children grown up, the mid
dle-aged woman finds time to do the
things she never had time to do before
-—read the new books, see the new
plays, enjoy her grand-children, take
an active part in church and civic
affairs. Far from being pushed aside
by the younger set, she finds a full,
rich life of her own. That is, if her
health Is good.
Thousands of women past fifty, say
they owe their vigor and health to
Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Com
pound, and are recommending it to
their friends and neighbors.
LOOK AT CHILD?
TONGUE IF SICK,
CROSS, FEVERISH
Hurry, Mother! Remove poi
sons from little stomach,
liver, bowels
Give “California Fig Syrup’’
at once if bilious or
constipated
7/ V
Look at the tongue, mother! If coated,
It is a sure sign that your little one's
stomach, liver and bowels need a gentle,
thorough cleansing nt once.
When peevish, cross, listless, pale,
doesn’t sleep, doesn’t cat or act natu
rally’, or is feverish, stomach sour,
breath hail; has stomach-ache, sore
throat, diarrlxea, full of cold, give a tea
spoonful of “California Fig Syrup,” and
in a few hours all the foul, constipated
waste, undigested food and sour bile
gently moves out of the little bowels
without griping, and you have a well,
phivful child again.
You needn't coax sick children to take
this harmless, “fruity laxative;*' they
love its delicious taste, and it always
makes them feel splendid.
Ask your druggist for a bottle of
"California Fig Syrup," which has direc
tions for babies, children of all ages and
for grown ups plainly on the bottle.
Beware of counterfeits sold here. To be
sure you get the genuine, ask to see that
it is made by the "California Fig Syrup
Company.” Refuse any other kind with
contempt.

Summerville Wins Fair Contests
Contestants from Summerville pub
lic schools won enough events in the
county fair contests to give Summer
ville first place among all the schools
participating. We feel good over hav
ing won because everything was car
ried on with a friendly ri'alry and
each school showed the proper spirit.
We hope that this spirit will continue
in all other contests.
Sirpt. Carl Motsinger, of Lafayette,
and two of his teapchers acted as
judges at the speaking contest Fri
day night. We appreciate the kind
ness of these people in assisting the
schools in this contest.

’ Teaching as a Profession
The great weakness of the calling
of teaching is the lack of profesion
al spirit among the rank and file of
teachers. To so many of us teaching
means a temporary matter until
something better comes along. Till we
eradicate that idea and-look the world
straight in the eye and demand our
rights as other vocations do we can
never be accepted as members of the
great profession of the world—teach
ing the youth of the land how to hu
manly men and womanly women. We
cannot do this unless we act as a bo
dy. Hence organization is necessary
and must precede our recognition as
a profession. The weak need this more
than the strong. The strong may be
able to care for themselves. The weak
can only make themselves strong by
united action. The body for that is
the Georgia Education association. It
is now composed of about 9,000 active
members and should include all the
teaching force bf Georgia, public
school, private school, state and pri
vate college. No man or woman in the
work of teaching can afford not to
add his or her strength to the asso
ciation that is the ad
vancement of all.
The officials of the Georgia Educa
tion association are insisting that
every county in Georgia be organized
as a unit of the state organization at
once. It is hoped tiiat all counties will
be definitely organized by November
6th. The officers of the Chattooga
county unit have set next Saturday,
October 23rd, as enrollment day, and
we hope that every teacher of the
county will attend the meeting at the
court house at 10 o’clock and will line
up with the state organization. The
dues to the state organization is only
$1,50 a year and includes a year’s
subscription to the official magazine,
the Georgia Education Journal.
The undersigned has been appointed
vice-president of the Seventh district
and it is his desire to enroll all the
teachers and school officials within the
district. We hope that the teachers of
Chattooga county will lend their as
sistance and do their part toward at
taining a full membership in the dis
trict. R. G. VINSON.
High School Cornerstone to be Laid
November 11th.
November 11 has been set for the
laying of the cornerstone for the new
high school building. Plans are being
made to have speakers from the state
department of education on that day,
and also a local program will be pre
i pared.
We hope to make this an education
al rally and every one interested in
schools should help to make it a
success. The people of Summerville
and -Chattooga county are taking a
great interest in the schools and im
provements are being made steadily.
The new high school building is some
thing of which all of us can justly
feel proud. Since having this building
we are able to take care of more high
school pupils than ever before, and
we have enrolled pupils from many
sections of the county.
The people over the county have an
interest in Summerville High school
as pupils from any part of the coun
ty are admitted on the same terms as
pupils living within the limits of Sum
merville district.
The full program for November 11
will be announced in the near future.
Notice to Teachers and Superintend
ents of Chattooga County.
The first meeting of Chattooga
County Education association will be
| held at the court house Saturday. Oc
|tober 23rd. at 10 o’clock. All teachers
are urged to be present.
The superintendents of the five
larger schools have agreed to meet
one hour earlier. We hope to have a
full attendance. The principals of the
different schools art- invited to meet
with us.

Dr. W. C. Rountree,

Dear Doctor:—About 8 years ago I
was taken with a bad case of stomach
trouble. I got better in winter and
worse in spring and summer. I suf
fered untold agonies, took many kinds
of medicine and found no relief. Aft
er four years I broke out with some
thing that looked like sun burn. At
first it appeared on my hands, later
on my face and neck. My mouth got
sore, feet burned and swelled until I
could hardly walk. My heart beat too
fast and I had a hurting in my chest
Some one sent you my name and you
sent me one of your little books and
questionnaire, but I did not order your
treatment at first. I waited thinking
I would get better, but instead I got
worse. Finally I got so bad that I
could not walk 20 steps without rest
ing. I ordered your Pellegra treat
ment and on the 9th. day of July, 1926
I began taking it. I soon saw that it i
was helping me and by the time I had 1
taken one treatment the rash and i
many of the other symptoms had dis
appeared. I have taken four treat- I
ments and am entirely relieved of all
symptoms of Pellegra. I appreciate
the honesty and kindness with which
you have dealt with me, for I have
found everything that you told me
about the treatment to be just like
you said. I want to ask all who have
this disease to not put off ordering
your treatment like I did for while
they are wating this terrible disease
is stealing their life away.

No Worms in a Healthy Child
AU children troubled with Worms have an un
healthy color, which indicates poor blood, and as a
rule, there is more or less stomach disturbance.
GROVE'S TASTELESS chill TONIC given regularly
for two or three weeks will enrich the blood, im
prove the digestion, and act as a General Strength
ening Tonic to the whole system. Nature will then
throw off or dispel the worms, and the Child will be
tn nerfect health. Pleasant to take. 60c per bottle.
