bor, at its recent convention, passed
a resolution demanding a federal law
to provide the 30-hour week as the
only means of mastering unemploy
ment. The federation, however, re
fused to support an amendment to
the constitution to permit labor and
social welfare legislation and to curb
the supreme court.

Lookout Mountain
Mrs. F. B. Williams and children,
of Central, S. C., are visiting her
mother, Mrs. H. F. Shigley.
Buell Holland, of Chattanooga, was
guest of his sister, Mrs. Paul Kirby,
and Mr. Kirby on Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Tom Jones passed away at her
home on last Saturday morning aft
er a month’s illness. Funeral services
were held at Wesleyan church Sun
day and interment followed in Bank
head cemetery.
Miss Clara Crftitree visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Crab
tee, of Poplar Springs, last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Green and
children were the guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Adams on Thanksgiv
ing.
Mrs. Ethel Davenport, of Summer
ville, was the guest of her mother,
Mrs. A. M. O’Rear, Friday.
Forrest Camp and Oscar Scott, of
Rome, spent the week-end on the
mountain.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Silk, of Menlo,
were guests of Mrs. Silk’s mother,
Mrs. H. F. Shigley, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Culbertson, of
Chattanooga, were week-end guests
of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Culberson.
H. F. Shigley is spending some time
with his daughter, Mrs. D. L. Jones,
and Mr. Jones in Macon.
The Moon Lake P.-T. A. sponsored
a box supper on the evening of Nov.
21, which was attended by a large
crowd. The proceeds of the supper
amounted to $51.51.
