program given by the Apollo Boys’
choir. All praised the boys and their
director, Coleman Cooper, for the
splendid program. A far greater
number heard one of the boys. Blake

DEATHS
Mrs. Flore n ce Colbert, 53, a well
known and highly respected citizen
of Trion for the past thirty years,
died Thursday, May 20, at 3:30 a.m.
She was Miss Florence Atkins before
her marriage to J. F. Colbert thirty
years ago when she left Villanow,
where she was born and reared, and
came to Trion. She was a member of
the Trion Methodist church. Besides
her husband, J. F. Colbert, she is sur
vived by one son, three daughters and
five grandchildren. Funeral services
were conducted from the Trion Meth
odist church Friday afternoon, May
21, at 2 o’clock, by the Rev. C. M.
Rogers. Interment in Trion cemetery.

Carvle Agusta Fowler, 26, died
Tuesday, May 18, at 8:35 p.m. Mr.
Fowler came to Trion some twelve or
fifteen months ago from Birmingham
Ala. He was born and reared in
Springville, Miss. He is survived by
his wife, mother, three brothers and
three sisters. Funeral services were
conducted from the Oak Forest Bap
tist chuch in Mississippi, Thursday,
May 20, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in
the Oak Forest cemetery, with the
Trion Department store in charge.
W. M. Ridley, 54, died at the home
of Mr. Little in Rome Wednesday,
May 19 at 7:15 a.m. He is survived by
five sons, Oliver, William, Eldon and
Lloyd, all of Trion, and Henry, of
Trenton, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs.
Mildred Leedford, of La Fayette; Mis
ses Jewel, Christine and Vettell, all
of Trion; two sisters and three broth
ers. Funeral services were conducted
from the Church of God in Trion
Thursday, May 20, at 11:30 a.m., by
the Rev. J. D. Kikland, of Trion. In
terment in the Estelle (Ga.) ceme
tery. Trion Department store in
charge of arrangements.
