NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION.
To the Voters of the Summerville
Consolidated School District, Chat
tooga County, Georgia:
In accordance with resolution of
the Board of Trustees of the Sum
merville Consolidated School District
of Chattooga county, Georgia, duly
passed at meeting held on the 14th
day of November, 1938, notice is
herein given to the registered voters
of rhe Summerville Consolidated
School District of Chattooga County,
Georgia, that on the 17th day of Dec.,
1938, an election will be held in and
for said Summerville Consolidated
School District, in said County, at
which election there will be submitted
,o the registered qualified voters of
said District for their determination
the question of whether or not bonds
shall be issued by said Summerville
Consolidated School District in the
aggregate sum of ($10,000.00) Ten
Thousand Dollars for the purpose of
building and equipping the school
house or houses in and for said Sum
merville Consolidated School District,
said bonds to bear date of Jan. 1,
1939, and to bear interest at the
rate of 5 per cent per annum, pay
able annually as same accrues, on the
first day of January each year, the
said bonds are to be in denomination
of $500.00 each and to be payable as
follows, to wit: $500.00 on the first
day of January, 1941, and $500.00 on
the first day of January each year
thereafter for 20 years so that the
entire issue, principal and interest,
will be paid off and retired on or
before January 1, 1960, in the install
ments heretofore specified. Said
bonds and interest to be paid in law
ful money of the United States of
vmerica at the office of some finan
cial institution in Atlanta Ga.
Polls will be opened at 7:00 o’clock
A. M. and close at 6:00 o’clock P. M.
The election will be held at the
Court House in Summerville, Chat
tooga County, Georgia. Those de
siring to vote in favor of said bonds
will do so by casting their ballots
having written or printed thereon
the words “FOR SCHOOLHOUSE,”
and those voting against said bonds
shall have written or printed upon
their ballots the words “AGAINST
SCHOOLHOUSE.” In the event said
bonds are authorized by said elec
tion to be issued and sold, a tax will
be levied annually and collection
thereof provided for from the prop
erty included in said school district
as recently consolidated, subject to
taxation sufficient for the payment
of the full amount of the principal
and interest due, in accordance with
the terms of the law in such cases
made and provided.

To the Superior Court of Said Co.:
The petion of Morrow Chamberlain
and Paul S. Mathes, the post c ffice I
address of both being Chattanooga, I
Tennessee, and of J. M. Curran, Jr.,
whose post office address is 320
Broadway, New York City, New York,
for themselves and their associates, ■
respectfully show:
First:
That they desire for themselves,
their associates, successors and as
signs, to be constituted a body cor
porate under the name and style of
Summerville Manufacturing Company
for a term of thirty-five (35) years,
with the privilege of renewal at the
expiration of said period, as and in
the manner provided by law.
Second:
The object of said corporation is
pecuniary profit and gain to its
stockholders.
Third:
The general nature of the business
to be transacted by said corporation
is:
(a) To build, maintain, lease andjor
operate manufacturing plants for the
processing of cotton andlor other tex
tile materials; to manufacture, pro
duce, buy, sell, and otherwise deal in
textiles and in all other materials,
raw or manufactured, useful in or in
cident to the production of such tex
tiles; to buy, sell and deal in all ma
terials or other things necessaiy or
useful in connection with the manu
facture and sale of such articles; to
purchase, own, lease, sell, mortgage,
or otherwise create lien upon any and
all property, real or personal, and
generally to carry on any other busi
ness, including farming, ginning, sell
ing cotton, coal, ice, cotton seed, cot
ton seed oil, and the purchase and
sale of general merchandise.
(b) To act as the agent or repre
sentative of corporations, firms or
individuals in the sale or disposition
of any article or manufactured prod
uct.
(c) To operate water works, buy,
1 sell, or make contracts relative to
the disposition of water.
(d) To make, purchase, or other
wise acquire, deal in, or carry out
any contract for or in relation to any I
of the foregoing businesses; to bor-j
row money and execute notes there
for; to join with any other corpora- |
tion, firm or individual in the mak- j
ing of any contract; and to guaran- :
tee, becomes surety upon or endorse |
i the contracts or obligations of any
other corporation, firm or individual,
whether or not it has a direct inter
! est in such contracts or obligations.
(e) To exercise and be entitled to I
all rights, powers, privileges and im- I
i munities granted to corporations by
i the laws of the State of Georgia.
Fourth:
The capital stock of said corpora
tion shall be Seventy-Five Thousand
Dollars ($75,000.00), with the priv
ilege of increasing the same to any
sum not exceeding One Million DoL
lars ($1,000,000.00); said stock to be
divided into shares of the par value
,of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
each. The capital stock may be in- j
creased, or decreased, to apy sum not -
less than Seventy-Five Thousand Dol
lars ($75,0(0.00), at any time, and;
as often as may be deemed advisable,
the said increase or decrease to b.

Fifth:
The principal office and place of
business is to be in Chattooga coun
ty, Georgia, with the privilege of es
tablishing branch offices and places
of business at any place within the
limits of the United States, same to
be established and fixed in the dis
cretion of the Board of Directors
of said corporation hereinafter pro
vided for.
Sixth:
The government of the corporation
and the exercise of all rights, powers
and privileges conferred upon it
shall be vested in the officers of the
corporation and a Board of Directors
of such number as may be fixed by
the By-Laws of said corporation, and
such directors may or may not be
stockholders in said corporation. Said
Directors shall be chosen at a meet
ing of the stockholders and shall hold
office for such term as may be fixed
in the By-Laws of the corporation.
Any vacancy in the Board of Direc
tors may be filled for the unexpired
.eira by a vote of the majority of the
remaining Directors. All meetings of
the stockholders shall be held at some
point within the State of Georgia,
after due notice of the time and place
of the meeting; but the Directors
may meet and transact any business
at any place within or without the
State of Georgia, after due notice of
the time and place of such meeting.
Meetings of the stockholders and
Directors shall be called and notice
thereof given in the way and manner
provided in the By-Laws of the cor
poration, and not inconsistent with
the laws of the State of Georgia.
Seventh:
They desire for such corporation
the right to adopt, amend, re
peal, or otherwise change a set of
By-Laws for the government of said
corporation.
WHEREFORE, Petitioners pray to
be incorporated under the name and
style aforesaid, with the rights, pow
ers, privileges and immunities herein
set forth, and as are now or may
hereafter be allowed a corporation of
similar character under the laws of
the State of Georgia.

E. Wright to Home Owners’ Loan
Corporation, dated the 29th day or,

Deed Book 20, page 405-6, in the of

Sealed proposals will be received
by the City of Summerville, Georgia,
at the office of the Clerk, until 2
o’clock, P. M., Central Standard time,
December 22, 1938, and there public
ly opened and read immediately
thereafter, for the constructions of
Waterworks Improvements, according
to the plans and specifications on file
at the office of the Clerk.
Plans, specifications and contract
documents are open to public inspec
tion, without charge, at the office of
he Clerk and the office of the En
gineers, J. B. McCrary Company,
Inc., Atlanta, Georgia, and copies
thereof may be obtained from the
office of the Engineers upon deposit
of Twenty Dollars ($20.C0). Deposits
will be refunded to each actual bid
der within a reasonable time after
receipt of proposals. Deposits of
those other than actual bidders will
be refunded with a deduction of $5.00
upon return of the plans and specifi
cations in good condition within ten
days after the date set for receiving
proposals, such deduction being the

The Holland Home Demonstration
club met with Mrs. C. N. Stevenson
last Thursday. Everyone enjoyed the
meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Brison, Mrs.
Ross Clark and son spent Sunday
with Dr. and Mrs. H. D. Brown, of
Summerville.
Mrs. C. H. White and Miss Marga
ret Smith spent Monday and Tuesday
with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Smith in
Trion.
Miss Eva Worsham is visiting her
brother in Rossville this week.
Miss Miriam Holland was a spend
the-day guest of Miss Mamie Smith
Sunday.
Several of the ladies from the Hol
land club were in Summerville to help
organize the county council.
Sausage and spare-ribs are all the
go around here now. Some of the
hogs being killed recently were fine,
weighing as much as five and six
hundred pounds. R. P. Brison had
the largest hog.
