BAKER-RUSSELL.
A wedding which came as a surprise
to her many friends was that of Miss
Eddie Baker to Carl Russell of Wood
land and Manchester. The marriage was
solemnized in the home of the bride Ap
ril 23, at 2 p.m., the Rev. J. C. Jackson
officiating with the single ring ceremony.
Mrs. Russell is the attractive daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Baker and is
tile sister of Mrs. Jack Johnson, Doug
las and Bobby Baker.
Mr. Russell is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Russell, of Woodland, Ga.
Local guests included the immediate
family of the bride and Mrs. J. V. Whee
ler, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gore, grandmo
ther of the bride. Out-of-town guests
were Mrs. Jack Johnson, Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Foster, Miss Mary Jane Lane and
Mr. Buckhanon, all of Manchester.
The bride was becomingly attired in
navy triple sheer with pink and blue ac
cessories. Her shoulder corsage was of
pink rosebuds and lilies of the valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell left immediately
for Manchester where they will reside.
Mr. Russell has been a teacher in Man
chester schools for the past two years.
Rev. and Mrs. Rowe, of Lyerly, enter
tained a large group of friends and rel
atives at a lovely 6 o'clock dinner last
Saturday evening. Guests included Rev.
and Mrs. George Pharr, Misses Margaret,
Rachel, Cathrine and Mildred Pharr, o
Gaylesville, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. L. L
Rowe and Miss Irene Row’e, of Hunts
ville, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Rowe,
of Arab, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. Don Groce,
Mr. and Mrs. Will Stephenson and Mr.
and Mrs. Eli Stephenson of Summerville.

Iris Barham, lovely 5-month-old daughter of Mr and Mrs. W.
T. Henry, was christened Sunday, March 26, at the home of her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Henry, by the Rev. J. G. Kirck
hoff. Little Iris Barham wore the dress her father wore 27
years ago. Her maternal grandparents are M. C. Oliver, of
Greensboro, N. C-, and the late Mrs. Alice Gilliam Oliver. Her
paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Henry, of Sum
merville. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Henry, Mr. and
Mrs. Barnes Hawkins and sons, Mrs Jim Beavers, Mrs. Will El
der, Mrs. G. J. Marks and son, Russell; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar
Henry and daughter, Virginia; Rev. and Mrs. J. G. Kirckhoff
and Miss Julia Stevenson.
