Friends of W. M. Strickland will re
gret to learn that he suffered a stroke
of paralysis two weeks ago, and is con
fined to his bed at his home north of
Summerville.

Adger Farmer, of this place, and R. W.
Taylor, of Chattanooga, will leave Satur
day for San Francisco, Oal., on legal
business. They will be gone for about ten
days or two weeks.

D. F. Wofford, one of the graduates
of Lee High school, Chickamauga, this
month, leaves for Asheville, N. C., May
27, where he has accepted a position and
will enter Norris Hill college there this
fall. He is one of the leading football
players of Lee High team and is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Drue F. Wofford, for
merly of this place, but now of Chicka
mauga.

BIRTHDAY DINNER.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mullen entertain
ed with a birthday dinner Sunday, May
7, in honor of Mrs. William Mullen, Miss
Frances Mullen, Mrs. Mae Armstrong
and B. W. Mullen, of Chattanooga, all
of whom had a birthday the past week.
LOOKOUT MT.
Rev. and Mrs. Charles Crowe, of Fruit
hurst, Ala., were the guests of relatives
here recently. Rev. Crowe has returned
home, but Mrs. Crowe remained for a
visit with her mother, Ms. H. F. Shig- 1
ley, who has just returned home after
spending the winter in Tampa, Fla., and
Macon, Ga. Mr. Shigley, who is now in
Macon, is expected home this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Crabtree announce
the birth of a daughter on April 10.
Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Freeman, of Bir
mingham, have moved to their summer
home where they will reside permanently.
Clyde Crowe, who was seriously injur
ed last Tuesday when he was knocked
down by a tractor which passed over his
hip, is in a critical condition in Newell’s
hospital in Chattanooga. He was pinned
under the tractor, and although the mo
tor died, his hip was severely burned
as he was held in this position for an
hour before his calls for held were heard.
Mr. and Mrs. George Kirby announce
the birth of a daughter on May 1. She
will be called Martha Louise.
Friends of Frank Quillian will regret
to learn of his death which occurred at
his home Wednesday, May 3. His body
was taken to Atlanta for burial.

Mrs. Calvin Crabtree, last week. Mrs.
Crabtree, who has been ill for some
time, is stall confined to her bed.
Rev. F. E. Crowe, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Crowe and Miss Hildred Crowe visited
their aunt, Mrs. Will Perkins, on Sun
day. Mrs. Perkins has been in quite fee
ble health for several weeks.
Ernest Jones, who has been confined to
his room for several weeks, is able to be
out.
The annual Decoration day at Band
head cemetery will be next Friday, May
12th.
