BOLLING BROWN WILL
WEI) IN JULY
Dr. and Mrs. Harmon Lobbs Brown,
of Summerville, announce the engagement
of theii - daughter, Katherine Bolling, to
John Hoyt Farmer, of Bluefield, W. Va.,
and Summerville. The marriage will be
solemnized July 20 in the boxwood gar
den at “Brownwood,” the home of the
bride-elect’s parents on the Rome road.
Miss Brown’s mother is the former
Miss Katherine Bolling, of Summerville.
On her maternal side the ibride-elect is
descended from the Bolling and Lee
families of Virginia. She is the great
granddaughter of the late Col. Joshua
Lee, and Senator John Lee, of Oklahoma,
is her uncle. On her paternal side she is
descended from the McElrath and Brown
families of Alabama.
The bride-elect was graduated from
Virginia Interment college, Bristol, ami
did special work in dramatics at the
University of North Carolina. She is a
member of the Carolina Playmakers. Del
ta Psi Moega. national dramatics frater
nity, and Chi Omega sorority.
Mr. Farmer is the son of the Rev. and
Mrs. James William Farmer. His father
is pastor of the Calvary Baptist church,
of Bluefield. His mother is the former
Miss Eunice Dodd, of Toccoa, Ga., He is
the brother of Misses Marjorie, Barbara,
Jimelle and Eunice Farmer, of Blue
field ; I. L. Farmer, of Jacksonville. Fla.,
and J. R. Farmer, of French Camp, Miss.
After being graduated from the Georgia
Vocational and Trades school in Monroe.
Mr. Farmer attended Oglethorpe univer
sity, where he received the A. B. and la
ter the A. M. degree. While there he was
a member of the football, basket ball and
baseball teams. He was a member of the
Varsity club, serving one year as presi
dent. Mr. Farmer was athletic coach for
freshmen his last year at Oglethorpe. He
is a member of Blue Key, national hon
orary fraternity, and Alpha Lambda Tau,
social fraternity.
Mr. Farmer is principal and athletic
director of the Summerville High school.

Summerville, to Dee Wood Harper, of
Waycross. The ceremony took place on
May 27 at the home of the bride, with
the Rev. J. L. Ramsey officiating.
Mrs. Harper is the eldest daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Mitchell, of Sum
merville. and received her education at
Young Harris college and the University
of Georgia. She has taught in the pub
lic schools of Georgia for the past four
yea rs.-
Mr. Harper is a native of Waycross.
He attended the University of Georgia,
where he received his B. S. A. degree.
He was a member of the faculty of
Gassville High school. Cassville, Ga.,
last year.

of Chattanooga, visited Miss Mildred
Brown at the Scottish Rite hospital at
Decatur Sunday.
