THE SUMMERVILLE NEWS: THURSDAY, JUNE 29, 1939
MISS M’GAVOCK BRIDE
OF REV. R. T. GILLESPIE
THOMASVILLE, Ga., June 23.—One
of the loveliest weddings of the season
was that which took place Thursday
evening at the Presbyterian church here,
when Miss Mary Ezell McGovack became
the bride of the Rev. Richard T. Gilles
pie. A large and fashionable gathering of
friends and relatives crowded the church,
of which the bridegroom is pastor. The
ceremony was performed by the Rev.
Cecil Thompson, of Valdosta, brother-in
law of Mr. Gillespie.
The bride, entering with her father,
was lovely in her gown of ivory satin,
the sweeping train and floor-length skirt
accentuating her petite figure. The dress
was made with a sweetheart neck, long
full lace sleeves, the tulle veil held on by
a band of orange blossoms. Her bouquet
was of valley lilies, with one white orchid
in the center. For sentiment she carried
a lace handkerchief made from the wed
ding gown of a great-grandmother and
carried by her sisters at their weddings.
Mr. Gillespie was accompanied by his
brother, Dr. Robert Gillespie, of Atlanta,
>.s his best man.
Prior to the ceremony nuptial music
was present by Cyrus Mallard, organist,
and Steuart Watson, soloist, of Albany.
After the wedding a reception for the j
bridal party and out-of-town guests was
held at the home of the bride’s parents.
Both Rev. Gillespie and Rev. Cecil
Thompson have preached in Chattooga
county and have many friends here.
