school auditorium Friday night at
7:3C. A good time is in store for
everyone. No admission. Home
made cakes, pies and candy will be
sold to the highest bidder.
An interesting feature on Friday
night’s program will be a stage pa
rade of our belles and beaux of to
morrow.
An interesting program has been
arranged by the committee, which
promises you an hour of good en

BASKET BALL TEAMS
HONORED
The basket ball teams of Sum
merville High were honored Tues
day night, March 24, with a ban
quet in the home economics depart
ment.
The Sophomore Home Economics
grils, with the aid of their teacher,
Mrs. McGinnis, prepared the food
which was delicious.
All the boys and girls enjoyed
talks from Coaches Farmer, James
and Kennedy, and Supt. Dyer. La
ter, some of the members spoke a
few words.
Lettermen for the teams are Hen
rietta Parker, captain; forward,
Frances Thomas, forward; Harriett
Cash, forward; Bette Story,, for
ward; Vera Hemphill, guard, Curtis
Bush, guard; Marion Sitton, guard,
and Martha Robinson, guard.
The boys, Frank Kellett, captain;
Ralph Brown, Cordle Bagley, Mor
ris Dalton, Julian Cooper and An
drew Williams.
Mrs. W. E. Brown and children
left last week to join Dr. Brown in
Tampa, Fla., where they will make
their home.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Dickerson and
children, of Austell, Ga., visited
friends here last week-end.
Rev. and Mrs. Jess Rutledge and
Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mitchell were
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Grady Dodd
in south Georgia Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. James Cooper were
visiting their son, Raymond Coo
per, and Mrs. Cooper Sunday.
The American Legion auxiliary
met last Monday night at the home
of Mrs. Sam W. Favor. The presi
dent, Mrs. Rice Morgan, presided
over the business session. Little
Dora Ann Alexander led the devo
tional by repeating the 100th Psalm.
Mrs. Favor was assisted in enter
taining by Mrs. Roy Alexander.
A dainty salad course was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Grady Richardson
and children and Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Norman were visiting friends and
relatives in La Fayette Sunday.
Mrs. Lewis Cooper was visiting
Mrs. P. A. Morgan at Gore last
week.
The many friends of Mrs. Fay
ette Cooper regret to know of her
serious illness at her home at Gore.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clark an
nounce the birth of a son, March
23, at Harbin’s hospital in Rome.
Mrs. Clark will be remembered as
Miss Martha Wyatt Berry, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Berry, of
Rome.
Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Manor and
Mrs. D. P. Henley have returned
from a short trip to Arkansas.
Mrs. John S. Cleghorn had as her
guests Wednesday Miss Isabell
Gammon, Mrs. Julian Reese, Mrs.
John Gilfillian and Mrs. Virginia
Wyatt, of Rome.
Miss Frances Kennedy visited
relatives in Chattanooga during the
week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Gaylor and
daughter, Betty Sue, were dinner
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton
Patty at Trion Saturday evening.

dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and
Mrs. A. G. Gaylor.
Y. C. Alexander, of Eldorado,
Kan., returned to his home after
being called here to attend the fu
neral of his father, G. B. Alexan
der. He remained here for a visit
with his mother, Mrs. Alexander,
and other relatives a few days.
Misses Madelyn Parker, Ilean Hill,
Aline Mahan and Lena Mae Parker,
Mrs. Waldo Reece, Mrs. R. K. Ward
and Harold Morrison were dinner
guests Sunday of Miss Frances
Mullen.
Mr. and Mrs. John Echols and
son, of Rome, were visiting rela
tives here Monday.
Mrs. T. S. Huston and daughters,
of Madisonville, Tenn., were week
end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Bagley.
Mrs. J. C. Johnson and son, Billy,
were in Rome Tuesday.
Mrs. Lena Lanier nas Deen moved
from the local hospital to her
home. She is still confined to her
room.

The Baptist pastor’s cabinet
meeting will be held Thursday eve
ning at the church. Dinner will be
in charge of Mrs. E. C. Pesterfield,
chairman; Mrs. James Jackson,
Mrs. Wright Wheeler, Mrs. W. P.
Morgan and Mrs. C. S. Fowler.
Mrs. M. D. Short attended the
Baptist W. M. U. convention in Ma
con last week.

week-end guests of Mrs. J. O. Mead

come Friday to spend the spring
holidays here with his parents.
