••LIGHT ON FILTHINESS
OF THE FLESH”
In God’s Holy Word we have this
most solemn verse, Be ye clean that
bear the vessels of the Lord. Isiah
52;11. God has always, and to this
present day, wanted a clean people.
Many people in this modern day are
confused as to what the bible means
in regard to filthiness of the flesh,
and sad to relate, many Christians
are not very concerned over this
vital question. God has much to
say in His Holy word concerning
this subject. It would be well for
every child of God to search the
scriptures and spend much time in
prayer over this vital question. The
bible is very clear on this subject*
and there is no need for any one to
be confused. The Holy Ghost him
self is ever ready and willing to
bring light to every honest heart
Upon this question. Our text says
that they that bear the vessels of
the Lord must be clean. Jesus
says: “Ye are the light of the
world.” We as Christians then are
a vessel to bear the glorious light
of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our
bodies are a vessel to carry the
blessed Holy Spirit of God in as a
witness to the saving power of the
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our whole aim and desire should
be to glorify God and win souls to
Jesus.
If we are to win people to Jesus
we will certainly have to be a living
example of Jesus. No man can
have filthy habits and be a good
example of Jesus Christ. The rea
son we as Christians are not win
ning more people to Jesus Christ is
because of thejact that we are not
better examples of the Christ him
self. People look at our lives and
set the standard of Christianity by
the life we live. If we live a filthy
life we set a bad example for those
who are watching our life. The
bible says “That not a man liveth
to himself or dieth to himself” re
gardless of who we are or how low
ly our stations in life might be,
some one is watching our life; some
one somewhere has each of us set
up in their hearts as an ideal and
unconsciously pattern their lives
after ours. Because of this fact it
certainly behooves us as people of
God that we set the right example
before the world, that we live clean,
holy, upright, consecrated life be
fore the world so that people might
look upon us and say: “Os a truth
they have been with Christ.”
If you are a dancing, smoking,
card playing, theatre-going, worldly
church member then sad to say we
are dragging down the standard
that the lowly Nazarene left for us
before He went back to heaven.
God’s word says “Love not the
world, neither the things that are
in the world, if any man love the
world the love of the Father is not
in him.” God help us as Christians
to wake up to this fact. We are
dragging down many souls to the
lost world where there is weeping
and wailing and gnashing of teeth,
where there is no escape, where they
are tormented in the flames both
day and night, while the ceaseless
ages of eternity roll on and on, all
because we are not willing to pay
the price and live a clean life, and
set the right example to a lost
world. Oh, brother and sister in
Christ, does the world see Jesus in
you? Does it see the light of the
face of Jesus reflected in your daily
walk and conversation? God help
us to get alone with God and get on
our faces and ask God to search
our heart and see if there be any
unclean thing in our live.
The reason we do not have more
old fashioned revivals in this mod
ern day is because we have so many
unclean Christians in our churches
who will not live the life, and con
sequently God is grieved, the Holy
Ghost is grieved, therefore he does
not smile upon us and souls are not
born again in our church altars.
Cigarette smoking, beer drinking,
theatre going church members have
so grieved the heart of God that
He has withdrawn His presence
from most of the churches, and un
til we come back to God and clean
up our lives we need never to ex
pect the revival that we had in days
of old. God’s word says “Know ye
not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the spirit of God dwelleth
in you, and if any man defile the
temple of God, him shall God de
stroy, for the temple of God is Holy,
which temple ye are.” This is plain
enough for any Christian to see
that God does not expect us to fill
His temple with filthy habits and
intoxicating drinks, for if His tem
ple is holy He will not dwell long
in a filthy place. Again we read
from God’s word “Having therefore
these promises dearly beloved, let
us cleanse ourselves from all filthi
ness of the flesh and spirit, perfect
ing holiness in the fear of God.” 2nd
Cor. 7;1.
Notice that we are to do the
cleansing or to leave these filthy
habits off ourselves. Again we
read, “Wherefore, come out from
among them and be ye separate,
saith the Lord, and touch not the
unclean thing, and I will receive
you.”
May the Lord help us to examine
these verses and clean up our lives
so that we may be a greater chan
nel of blessing to a lost world.

Squibs And Titbits
By A COUNTRY PARSON
A writer says: “A church wants
a pastor with the vision of an
eagle, the grace of a swan, the gen
tleness of a dove, and the friendli
ness of a robin; and when they get
a bird like that they expect him to
live as cheaply as a canary.” Os
course this does not apply to
churches in this section.
Satan is not opposed to your re

don’t have any worse thoughts.
