Aviation Cadet Herman M. Hall,

parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hall,
u Lyerly. Returning on Oct. 9 to
ontinue his basic training as pilot
n the army air force.
Since enlisting as a cadet he has
completed pre-flight school at
Jelly Field, San Antonio, Tex., and
irimary training at the Pine Bluff
chool of aviation, Pine Bluff, Ark.
Te expects to complete the final
)hase of training and receive his
vings and commission as second
lieutenant early in February.
While at Kelly Field he had the
privilege of taking part in a cele
'ration honoring Gen. Jimmy Doo
little after his return from the
Tokyo raid, his squadron being
ne of three chosen to do honor to
his brave hero. Also while there
he was fortunate enough to make
the acquaintance of a number of
war heroes just returned from ac
ton, among them were Ensign
honald Mason, whose famous re
port, “Sighted sub, sank same” is
known around the world.
The census report shows that
4,922 bales were ginned in Chat
tooga county from the crop of 1942
prior to Oct. 18, 1942, as compared
with 5,306 bales ginned to Oct. 18,
1941.
