USED FATS FOR VICTORY
NEW YORK.—The American Fat

that 223,500,000 pounds of used
cooking fat have been collected
and turned in by civilians since
the beginning of the war, and that
the armed forces have added an

EUROPEAN WAR
A great, final drive into Germany
is expected to wind up the war
this year, except for guerrilla re
sistance. The military experts be
lieve that when the Rhine barrier
is effectively passed, the position
of Germany will make organized
military resistance ineffective. And,
too, the Nazis are supposed to be
short of gasoline and oil, facing
difficulties in iron and steel and
scraping the bottom of the man
power barrel.

IN MEMORIAM
In memoriam of our dear mother
and mother-in-law, Mrs. Josh
Ward, who passed away one year
ago today, Nov. 24, 1943.
Sleep on mother dear,
And take your rest.
We love you.
But God loved you best
Sadly missed but not forgotten.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Weaver
JUST A LITTLE POEM FOR
YOU DEAR
I do believe that God above created
you for me to love,
He picked you out from all the
rest,
Because he knew that I loved you
best.
I once had a heart so tender and
true,
But now it’s gone from me to you,
So take good care as I have done,
For you have two and I have none.
When I go to heaven and you’re
not there,
I’ll paint your face on the golden
stairs
So that all the angels will know
and see
What a dear you have been to me,
And if you haven’t come by judg
ment day,
I’ll know that you have gone the
other way.
I’ll give the angels back their wings
Golden horns and everything
Just to show you what I’ll do for
you.
I’ll even go to hell for you.
Your pal as ever, bye darling
