Miss Quinelle Mcßae
Speaks at Local Junior
Woman's Club Meet
Miss Quinelle Mcßae, clothing
specialist in the extension serv
ice of the University of Georgia,
gave the members of the Sum
merville Junior Woman’s Club
many important points on dress
at their last meeting.
She began by saying that
clothes were always appropriate
as a subject because all women
love to talk about them, and also
there is an enormous amount of
money spent on them.
She gave predictions for fall
styles which were followed with
great interest. Then she added
that to follow the latest mode
may not be the best looking for
every individual and so each per
son should study her type and
buy what is most becoming. As
a basis for deciding what is most
becoming the figure should be
a determining factor and it can
be improved by correct carriage
and corrective corseting and ex
ercise.
Color theory need not be
learned, but every eye can be
trained to see variations of col
or. Emphasis can be had through
repetition or through contrast.
The skin is the guide for select-
I ing the most becoming colors.
Eye and hair colors follow. Size,
too, has its effect on color. Miss
Mcßae reminded her audience of
the fact that nature made the
elephant gray and the cardinal
red.
Personality is important and a
person’s type makes a difference
in the choice of clothes. It is
most essential that you feel good
in the clothes you wear. Each
item of your wardrobe should be
■ chosen with an idea of its pur
pose, the most expensive thing
you have is that which is w'orn
the least.
In closing the speaker urged
that everyone be a smart shop
per, to learn trade names and
something about fabrics and
processes.
This talk by Miss Mcßae made
a most effective close to the
planned programs for the spring.
Everyone agreed they had learn
ed definite helps for their fu
ture shopping and dress. »
