Crouch Monday evening. Mrs
Otis Gorman was joint hostess.
Mrs. Eugene Rackley presided
in the absence of the president,
Mrs. J. R. Burgess. Mrs. Marshall
Lowery was in charge of a very
interesting program, the subject
being “Children and the Law.”

lightful refreshments were serv
ed by the hostess, assisted by
Mrs. W. L. Crouch and Mrs.
James Crouch.

Garden Club Meets With
Mrs. J. B. Woodard
Members of the Chattooga I
County Garden Club met in the
home of Mrs. J. B. Woodard for
the June Meeting. Mrs. J. T. Mor
gan assisted Mrs. Woodard in
serving delicious refreshments.
Mrs. Eugene Rackley was in
charge of a very interesting pro
gram. Mrs. J. R. Jackson gave a
very interesting talk on wed
dings and tips on steps in plan
ning a wedding. For the busi
ness meeting Mrs. J. E. Baker
read the by-laws of the club and
it was decided that the by-laws
and constitution would be stress
ed at every meeting for the ben
efit of the club. Mrs. Frank
Prince, president, presided over
the meeting.

Memorial to FDR
Is Established
At Warm Springs
The “Little White House” at
Warm Springs has become a na
tional shrine.
On Wednesday, June 25, Act
ing Gov. M. E. Thompson re
ceived the deed to the modest
six-room dwelling where Frank
lin D. Roosevelt died April 12,
1945. From now on, the property
will be controlled by the state’s
Warm Springs Memorial Com
mission.

mats, half a dozen senators and
42 members of the House of Rep
resentatives formed the offficial
party from Washington attend-
ing the formal ceremonies on
Wednesday. They were supple
mented by the governors of five

Gov. Thompson accepted the
deed to the Little White House
for the state in the name of “the
memory of the man who was de
voted to the alleviation of the
suffering of mankind.” It was
handed to him by Basil O’Con
nor, president of the National
Foundation for Infantile Para
lysis, the 20th anniversary of
which was also being observed,
Wednesday.
