THE SUMMERVILLE NEWS: SUMMERVILLE, GA.
WAA to Launch
'Over-Counter’ Sales
In response to public demand,
the Georgia region of War Assets
Administration has launched an
“over-the-counter” sales pro
gram to quickly dispense with
small lots of war surplus at bar
gain prices to all classes of buy
ers through its three customer
service centers in Atlanta, Ma
con and Savannah.
The new plan for quick sale of
small lots will supplement the
regular methods of selling sur
plus in large quantities.
Burton M, Graham, Atlanta
regional WAA director, points
out that the new small lot sales
plan will prove especially attrac
tive to small retailers and whole
salers desiring to “pick up” their
purchases. For the most part, he
said, the surplus goods will be
collected by truck at various
Government installations and
transported to the nearest cus
tomer service center for imme
diate sale at fixed prices and
over-the-counter delivery.
Because the small lot bargains
will flow through the three cus
tomer service centers in a con
tinual stream, Graham urges
Georgia buyers to maintain con
stant contact with their nearest
center. Since priorities have been
satisfied or waived on the small
lots, advance legal advertising
will not be necessary. Priority
groups, however, may buy con
currently with others.
“Each week each of our cus
tomer service centers will have
their own bargains in small lots,
ready for immediate delivery on
a come-and-get-it basis,” Gra-
