THURSDAY, JUNE 17, 1948 TRION NEWS By MRS. SARAH AGNEW MYERS An effective ordination service was held at the Baptist Church Sunday at which W. W. Fanning and Joe Collette, Sr., were or dained deacons. The Rev. J. G. Black, a former pastor of the church, preached the sermon. The Rev. S. L. Walker and the Rev. D. B. Maffett also took part in the ceremony. Miss Josephine Miscal has re turned home from Buffalo, N. Y., where she complete a course in dental hygiene. Mrs. Tom Day is at Riegel Hos pital recuperating from a major operation. Harry Lee Bayne spent last week in Chattanooga, Tenn., vis iting his mother, Mrs. Kate Bayne. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hendrix, attended graduation exercises at Vanderbilt University. Their dau ghter, Jean, graduated and ac companied them on their return home. Mrs. P .E. O’Neal and Harley Bandy were spend the day guests Saturday in the home of. Mr .and Mrs. Mark Strawn in Holland. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Weathers bee and young daughter spent the week-end in Atlanta and Al bany. John Lewis, Jr., who graduat ed recently from Gupton Jones School of Embalming, has ar rived in France where he will work with the U. S. Civil Service. The Rev. Leroy Obert and Hen ry Bankey represented the Trion Lions Club at the state conven tion at Savannah. Miss Minnie Justice attended a State Home Demonstration meeting in Athens and is now visiting friends in Sylvester. The Rev. S. L. Walker an nounced that the new chimes for the Baptist Church will be in stalled this week-end. They will be played from 5 to 5:30 each week-day afternoon with special hours on Sunday. Mrs. Trapp Bryan and chil-: dren, of Augusta, are visiting. Mrs. Virginia Howard at the j Trion Inn. T. Y. Bricker; and attend the Towry-Bricker : wedding Saturday. Willard Golden, of Fayetteville, i Tenn., arrived Tuesday to be in the Towry-Bricker wedding. Mrs. Watson Connor, formerly Miss Katharine Bell, visited in Trion Friday. Mrs. Fay Green and Mrs. Wiley Wright attended a tea in Ring gold last Thursday honoring Mrs. G. C.
