SUMMERVILLE SILHOUETTES I may as well get it off my chest the first thing, because I simply can’t keep things like this to myself. Bohanan’s has the new Lee’s dresses in, and are we all crowing about it. They’re worth crowing about too. You see that example on this page, don’t you? You’ve got to see it “in person” to appreciate it fully. But that’s just an addition to Bohanan’s fine lines, as you al ready know. L’Aiglon offers a stunning f< * Xj ’’ i•" 11 1 * • yv 11 Sai F-z wi / I\ \ i i m /a\ wSgWR 7 / • />] / ' Ssi / I / few al (—Z ’A ~ BOHANAN’S SUMMERVILLE, GA. Announcing the Opening of ... SCOGGINS By HELEN TOLES i green and white check spun ray- i [ on tailored dress with a fly front s effect down the skirt. Three tinyl / golden buttons are used on the 1 waist front. A narrow green i leather belt and two deep pockets t complete this dress you’ll wear ? and wear. ’ In wool plaid with pastel pink and grey used to great advantage j in another L’Aiglon. Also tailor . ed, it’s perfect for office wear. Basic and simple is the T Dorothy Hubbs black crepe with -a high button up neckline and ;• a 16-gore skirt It’s also avail able in green or grey, if that’s your color choice. Packard, the original designers and creators for youthful fig ures, are represented in Sum merville by Bohanan’s, and well represented they are, too. Sizes are from 12y 2 to 26V2, all half-sizes. Packard has a slogan something like this: “You’ll surely guess her age is less, she always wears a Packard dress.” I To the point, isn’t it? Take this , simple style with tucks across the 1 front waist, it comes in charcoal grey, blue or black. It’ll deduct YEARS from your figure. And Bohanan’s is also getting ready for that gay holiday seas son ahead. There’s a Richie Jr., dress in winter white or pink. Perfect for juniors, it’s two-piece and has gold sequin trim. “Rich ie’s are rich in fashion, quality and appearance.” In woolen fabric and in Nan Scott Jr., design is an adorable green and blue plaid that will really go places with you on a 5 cold day. The three - quarter 1 sleeves have white cuffs and the : wee Peter Pan collar is also white pique. So you see, Bohanan’s is well ! stocked on several fine lines and Lee’s is in good company. I’ve just come from Chattooga ' Mercantile’s and this old type writer won’t beat out fast enough : the wonderful news of their lat est dress shipments. Doris Dodsons most especially; but there are oodles of others. Martha Manning, for instance. One of these M. M.’s is like sparkling champagne with ef frevescent rhinestones bubbling on it. It’s an occasion-making dress; it’s festive, yet flattering for the half-size flguers. It comes in Parade Rayon Crepe in these .;. adorable colors; love blue, ro- mance grey, teuaer green, and ardor wine. Makes your mouth water, doesn’t it? I’m just going to teil you about one more M. M. and it’s so pretty I could finish the column on it. (Only those Doris Dodson’s could keep me from it) Well, it’s made of a fine crepe print and set off bj' a side drape that does won ders for your figure. The sleeves are push-up tnree-quarter leng th. The print is red or grey, with, of course, sparkling white. Now for those dresses that are as new as tomorrow’s mail; those dresses that the young vote goes for—Doris Dodsons. “Highlights” is a perfect name for the charcoal grey (or brown) with it’s huge gold dots all over the dress. The style is simple, be cause naturally the dots are the feature Breath-taking AND eye-taking is the change-about with the j changeable taffeta trim. A low neckline, in front and back, and a fitted waist with gently flar ing skirt is the basis of the dress The changeable taffeta bolero , and the sassy bow at the belt are details which add much smart ness to the dress. In two-piece faille is a darling junior D. D. which is simple in design and yet dressy enough. Such details as the tiny self covered buttons which go almost to the bottom of the skirt and which are used diagnoally across the waist. Highlighting the square square neckline is the outline of black lace over pink and blue taffeta. Does it sound unusual? It is. The dress is called “Dream . Girl,” and that’s what you’ll be in it. You’ll also be a “Golden Girl” if you choose the neat two-piece frock with it’s unique horizonal golden stripes. Names of dresses are always fascinating to me, but “Lux ury Liner” had me stumped. It’s cute and I’ll wager you’ll be surprised what it looks like. Won’t you go in and tell Mrs. Hayes to let you see it? And girls; don’t forget to watch for that sale wewe been hearing about. Chattooga Mercantile management will let us in on more about it SOON. I’m just as anxious as you to hear all about it! I’m not trying to give some body free advertising, but that you-know-who name band lead j er with his marvelous orchestra . is to be in Chattanooga Friday night. Christmas season with it’s round of festivities is just around the corner, too. With all this, there’s no get ting around it, you’ll need a new formal dress. Your old one is bound to be as out of date as Aunt Susie’s wedding dress, be cause the current formal styles are de/inifeZy different! Oh! there is some old, old combined with some new, new (if you get what I mean) and the combination is really okeh, but different. But where can you get some of these gorgeous frocks in Sum - merville? I know you’ve already guessed it; it’s Esserman’s! You'll be the belle of the ball Ii in this charming blue (or fus i chia) dress with it’s Old South air. Honestly, you’ll look as ; though you stepped out of the i pages of “Gone With the Kind,” because this dress has a -HOOP : SKIRT, and a low, round neck ; line with a truly feminine ruf -1 fie. The taffeta skirt is nipped ) up in front at five spots to show' , a bit of a ruffle. Oh, and that’s not all—there are matching gloves that go with the dress. Made similiarly is a white taf feta with a wide bertha and tiny puff* sleeves. It also has a cri nolin underskirt and a hoop which will swish and swirl as you swing about on the dance floor, or as you walk along. Three tucks on either side of the hips are made outstanding features of 'another dress by having crinolin padding under neath. This dress with its ber tha and melene yoke is available in aqua or pink. Sleek and yet charming is a little black number with straps. A wide band of pale aqua out lines the top, but where this col or really plays a part is in the back. Two vertical rows of gath ered aqua taffeta are inserted from the bottom of the full skirt to the w'aist. It’s fascinatingly different! And, there’s a bustle, too! If you’re one of those lucky ones with preUy shoulders to show, then this strapless black is made for you! Baby blue . trims the top and a wide band of same is at the bottom of the flaring skirt. Buckram is used I to hold the hips at a new' angle— one you’ll go for! Then, there’s the pink dress with a sequin -trimmed bertha; another is off-the-shoulder; an other in a cute style in blue— and what’s more, others are coming SOON! And, listen!
