SUMMERVILLE SILHOUETTES
Have you finished your Christ
mas shopping yet? If you’re all
as lazy as I am, you’re way be
hind. Doesn’t it seem hard to
think of Christmas and get those
'gifts bought so far ahead?
I But no matter how late you
wait, you can find a nice selec
-1 tion of gift articles at Bohanan’s.
I No matter what you want, Vir
ginia and “Bo? can fit you.
vVhatever your problem, just call
Summerville 84 and you’ll get
service pronto.
i And listen, they’ll gift wrap
’ your items in the prettiest and
fanciest ways, all free, of course.
• If you want her to, Virginia tells
me she’ll be just happy to MAIL
: those gifts for you too! What
more could you ask for? You can
I see right off the bat it’s the
I simplest matter at all to trade
with Bohanan’s.
But I must tell you what all
they’ve got, or at least begin to.
On one table I spied some sweat-
I ers in gorgeous colei’s, but what
| really took my eye were the royal
blue school sweaters so many are
wearing now. On the same table
there were wool scarfs, lovely
linen hankerchifs and pure silk
scarfs.
In neat cello, covered boxes
there are fancy panties for big
and little sister. And there’s not
a woman anywhere who wouldn’t
appreciate one of those adorable
• pure silk “Lady Love” slips.
What would be lovelier to find
I under the tree Christmas morn
ithan a delicate, lacey gown or
I a pretty pair of pajamas?.
She can never have too many
• hose, so why not give Berkshire
;or Sheex - Beauty? They’re sheer
I and in wonderful colors for win
■ ter wear.
There are blouses, gloves, bags
and of course you know Virginia
ALWAYS has lots of nice dresses,
i suits and coats.
I’m going to let you in on
| something too. Her women’s |
I hats can be had at half price
now! But that’s not all. There’s
1 one group of nice, winter dress
| es that are one third off. Bet-
I ter hurry, hadn’t you?
For those men in the family, *
! there are Wembley ties, Mayfair

: hanan’s has, too.

crepes, all especially designed for
the gay holidays. ,
A lovely combination of two
of these fabrics make a chic ;
number - called “Party Lines.” The
lop. of red irridescent taffeta
with horizonal gold metallic
threads, swoops down three
fourths of the front skirt and
dips up to the waistline in back.
Beneath is jet black crepe. The
neckline is low with a lovely por
trait collar and the front of taf- .
feta is buttoned with self butt- •
ons.
I call this one glamorous. It’s
in solid “shocking pink” and is
simply made, but oh, the effect
it makes! There’s a wide cumm
erbund in front and the top half
is of gold mesh. The close fitting
three quartex - sleeves also have a
touch of gold mesh at the cuff.
With one center pleat in front, I
the dress is complete and is it a'
doll FOR some doll. Will it be
you?
Looking on through Chattooga
Mercantile’s racks, we come
across a black (also can be had
in gray) taffeta, which is two
piece and has touches of gold
here and yon. For instance the
peplum is centered with a stripe
of gold mesh and the cuffs and
collar also sparkle with this
“Midas touch.”
In that rather new “apricot”
color, there’s a simple Doris Dod
son in crepe. At widely spaced in
tervals there are wee, wee bands
of apricot taffeta, but at the
bottom of the skirt, there’s a
wide band which will rustle as
you walk. A bow at the neckline
and one at the left waist, and
there you have it.
And finally, I’m going to let
you in on the darling of them
all. the “Victorianna.” It’s hard
to tell which is cuter, the skirt or
the top. Put ’em together an
you’ve got SOMETHING! The top
:is white brocade satin with a
• tailored neckline and three
quarter sleeves with tiny turn-up
I cuffs, while the skirt, of faille,
is flared and has a bustle in the
I back. The band in front is a nar
row 7 , slightly dipping “V”.
Just think, in addition to hav
ing yourself a lovely Christmas
dress, you’ll have a gorgeous skirt
to wear with other blouses. And
what would be prettier with that
, brocade top than a deep green
or rose skirt?
They’re all Doris Dodsons,
’ folks, and I just know they’d be
lovely on you; during the holi
, ( days and afterwards as well.
I; At least go feast your eyes on
■ ’ them, won’t you?
