Fire Pro Section News
There was thousands of dol
lars damage done to timber in
this County by the wild fires
that were set during the first
nine days of this month, and
hundreds of rabbits, squirrels,
birds and other wildlife were
burned to death.
Many fires burned for hours
before we were able to get to
them, and some burned out be
fore we did. On two or three
different days there was five
fires burning at one time. Dur
ing the extremely dry and
windy weather from March 5
through the 9 the County Fire
Protection Unit fought 15 fires.
Many were stopped before they
had burned more than 1 to 25
acres, some burned up into the
hundreds.
In most sections of the county
we had plenty of volunteer
