Bsrryton Message
PERILOUS TIMES
II Timothy 3-2-3-4. "This
know also that in the last days
perilous times shall come, for
men shall be lovers of their own
selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to pa
rents, unthankful, unholy, with
ou t natural affection, truce
breakers, despis°rs of those that
are good, traitors, heady, high
minded, lovers of pleasure more
than lovers of God, having a
form of godliness, but denying
the power thereof, from such
turn away.
Beloved friends, are we living
in an age like this now? Men
love themselves, care less for
other people. Then it speaks of
covetous. That means people are
seeking or wishing for the other
man’s proeprty, his farm, or his
car, or his wife, or his money.
Does that sound like the 1949
models? Then boasters; do we
have them today? They are
people who have the best of all
as long as it is in their hands.
They boast of their automobile
til) its sold; they boast of their [
character till they get office;
they boast what they will do, |
until it comes time to do it. Yes, [
that sounds like the latest out. j
Then it is mentioned of the
proud. To be proud is like some
of today, they won’t go to
church if there’s a run in their
hose, they won’t go to church
if they get out of lipstick and
nail polish, they won’t go if
they have to wear the same
two dresses; they won’t go if
their clothes don’t fit just right.
Are people proud today? Do you
ever see any tep cent million
aires with their heads so high,
it looks like thev need a weight
hung on their chin to level them
up.
Then it speaks of blasphemers
people who curse the things that
are right. Some wear the name
of Shristians and live worldy.
Are you blashpeming Christ by
bearing His name and living
in sin? Friends, you had better
be careful to live just what you
are and bear the proper name
for your life.
Then it speaks of unthankful,
that is people who has ' their [
own home, and money saved up,
and plenty to eat, and all the
time grumbling about something
they need like an old hog, who
lives under the acorn tree, but
never looks up to see where the
acorns come from.
Then it speaks of the unholy
without natural affection. That
must be people who put on arti
fical to have affection. Remem
ber its out of style for a lady
to have her natural affection.
If she is just natural, then it
knocks off her make up, when
her make up is put on it gives
her artificial affection. If her
hair is natural it is long and
straight and stringy, she wants
it to have a beautiful affection,
so she cuts it off and curls it
to suit herself, that gives the
artifical affection. That means
in the last days they will be
without natural affection.
This means no harm friends,
we just want you to know we
are living perilous times and
in the last days and in the latest
models as Americans.
We are heard over WGWD
Saturday morning at 9:30 Ga.
time, over Gadsden station and
come to the Berryton Baptist
Church each Sunday. Address
all mail to Rev. Howard Finster,
Trion, Ga. (adv.)
