PRESENTMENTS OF
THE GRAND JURY
Summervile, Ga., Feb. 7, 1950.
Hon. H. E. Nichols,
Judge Rome Judicial Circuit,
Summerville, Ga.
We, the members of the Febr
uary 1950 Grand Jury respect
ively submit to the Court our
presentments:
We have thru our different
committees inspected the build
ings and the different institu
tions of our county and attach
hereto our findings and offer
them as a part of our present
ments.
As our committees on public
buildings have made several rec
ommendations as to minor re
pairs which should be made both
on the courthouse and in the
courthouse, and also needed re
pairs in the jail, we ask that
careful consideration be given to
these recommondations by our
county authorities, a s many
times a small repair at the prop
er time saves the cost of that i
which becomes a larger and
more expensive repair at a later
date.
We have recommended o r
elected, subject to the approval
of the Court, the following gen
tlemen to the places designated:
Harry L. McGinnis as a member
of the Chattooga County Board
of Education to succeed himself,
his term expiring during this
month.
Dr. H. D. Brown as a member of
the Chattooga County Board of
Health.
Mr. Harry L. Pierce as Notary

the Peace of Trion District, the
same being District 870 G M.
Mr. H. L. Abrams as Notary
Public and ex-offico Justice of
Peace of Lyerly District, the same
being District 1484 G. M
We respectfully recommend to
the Board of Roads and Revenues
of Chattooga County that the
amount they are now paying to
our Sheriff for mileage when it is
necessary for him to make out of
the state trips be supplemented
thereby increasing his mileage
pay from .05 cents per mile to
.10 cents per mile.
We recommend that our Clerk
of this Grand Jury be paid for
three days work in preparing,
assembling and typing our pre
sentments.
We recommend that these pre
sentments be published in one
issue of The Summerville News
and that the usual fee be paid
for same.
In taking our leave of the
Court, we desire to thank Your
Honor for the explanation to us
on the day of our convening our
duties and our responsibilities as
Grand Jurors.
We thank our Solicitor Gene
ral and his courteous Assistant
in rendering to us every assist
ance in the performing of our
duties.
