FINSTER SPEAKING
FAMINE
Amos 8:11: “Behold the days
come, saith the Lord God, and I
will send a famine in the land,
not a famine of bread, nor of
thirst for water, but of hearing
the words of the Lord.” Yes, we
hear of famines in the land, such
as food, clothes, jobs and other
materials. But when the famine
of God’s Word comes, then we
are yet to face the worst.
People who face a famine of
food and natural things usually
survive, for there is always away
through even if it is a hard way.
But when people are robbed of
God’s Word, and cannot hear it,
or know it, then they are headed
to a destruction, even eternal
damnation, where there will be
no remedy.
The Word of God has a great
purpose in this world. The Word
will lead men to fear God, it will
lead men to be kind to one an
other and love one another, and
it will cause men to have a re
penting heart, even a forgiving
hear. What would a world be
without love and care?
The Word of God should be
taught to every child. Raising up
a child without teaching it the
Word of God is worse than rob
bing it of its future wealth. Yes,
the most serious famine is the
famine of God’s Word. Nations
and kingdoms that have fallen
were people who left God out of
the picture of life.
People who have the oppor
tunity to hear God’s Word and
fail it, may later seek to hear it

but fail. Amos spoke of the
famine of God’s Word. Just think
of a country where it is against
the rules to speak of God or even
have a church. What could take
place to bring a famine of God’s
Word in America?
If people push away the true
Word of God and fail to accept it
and fail to back it up by helping
spread it to the rising genera
tion, love the world more than
he Gospel, let the church seats
remain empty, then where is our
defence of his famine?
A nation without love and
God’s Word is like a brick wall
without mortar, there is nothing
to hold it together. You are one
among millions who will help
hold the world together or help
tear it apart. Which will we
choose? No nation can stand
without God. Will we suffer a
famine of His Word?
