CHILEAN NITRATE OF SODA
More than anvthing rkr, when -pring growth begins, mall grain
needs an ample supply of ta-l .n ting nitrate nitrogen. And that mean*
Chilean Nitrate of Soda. The nitrogen in it is l(M> per cent nitrate
nitrogen-last-acting and ready to help the hungry crop through its
most dißi< uh period and push it ahead.
More than l<M> years of consistently satisfactory experience with
Natural Chilean Soda have demonstrated that there is nothing to com
pare with it for top-dressing small grain. It is a rare natural combina.
tion of nitrate nitrogen, aoaium and minor elements. The nitrogen is
ItMl per < ent nitrate nitrogen— ready to work, rain or shine, as toon as
it’s applied. This is especially important because at top dressing time
every moment counts. There is nothing like nitrate nitrogen for a small
grain crop—and there is no source of nitrate nitrogen that can com.
pare with Natural Chilean Soda.
Then, there's the sodium anti minor elements. Sodium, partii ii.
larly, adds much to the value and effectiveness of Chilean Soda. It
conserve* the supplies of magnesium, potash and calcium in the soil
and substitutes for calcium and potash, if necessary. It increaie* the

equivalent to 650 pounds of rummer* ial limestone to destroy soil
acidity and correct acid forming effects of ammonia nitrogen. This
explains why regular, aystematic use of Chilean Soda help* so much to
maintain a favorable pH level for the production
of top yield* of top-quabtv crop*. Ww

Fortunate are communities
where Scouting flourishes and
Chattooga is a prime example
of the attainment possible when
adults of good character give
generously of their time to serve
as Scout leaders.
ONE AT A TIME
The class was having a gen
eral knowledge lesson. The mas
ter turned to Jenkins, noted for
the ease with which he wriggled
out of tight corners.
“What is ratio?”
“Ratio,” replied Jenkins, “is
proportion.”
“But what is proportion?”
“Why, sir, proportion is ratio.”
“Well, what are ratio and pro
portion?”
“I can answer only one ques
tion at a time, sir,” replied Jen
kins, with cold dignity.
