Institute. She is now associated
with Rich’s, Inc., Atlanta.
Mr. Lyons is a graduate of
University of Georgia, where he
was a member of Sigma Alpha
Epsilon fraternity. He is also
associated with Rich’s, Inc.

Rites Spoken Feb. 15
Miss Nell Alexander, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John Alexander,
of West Summerville, became
the bride of Don Epperson, of
Rome, in a simple ceremony Fri
day evening, Feb. 15th at 8
o’clock at the home of the bride’s
parents.
The ceremony was performed
before an altar of lighted candles
with a background of greenery
and gladiolus.
O. C. Thompson, minister of
the Pennville Church of Christ,
performed the double ring cere
mony.
The bride chose for her wed
ding a baby blue wool dress

Note Methodist
Expansion Day
The Summerville Methodist
Church will join the more than
1500 Methodists churches in
Georgia in observance of Expan
sion Day on Sunday, March 3rd.
Through this special day in
the past four years, a million
dollars has been given by the de
nomination's members to cover
the extra needs of the church.
Os the million dollars, $294,398
has gone into church extension,
which has made possible the
purchase of 46 lots valued at
$300,000. construction of 32
church school buildings valued at
$727,500: 36 church sanctuaries
valued at $1,042,500. and 38 par
sonages valued at $397,000.
The Expansion funds have in
spired church members to build
churches and parsonages eight
times the value of the amount
contributed, according to Dr. Nat
Long and Dr. George Clary, Sr„
Methodist Expansion Day chair
man.
The offering taken Sunday
will thus help build more
churches, as well as aid Meth
odist colleges, Wesley Founda
tions. Methodist centers for stu
dents on state college campuses;
the two assembly grounds. Camp
Glisson and Epworth-by-tlu
sea; hospitals and homes; and
the spreading of Methodist news
through its public relations of
fice located in Atlanta. Georgia.
The Summerville Methodist
Church has a goal of $279.00. The
Rev. H Frank Barfield, pastor,
said each person should try to
give far more than the minimum
in order to help Georgia Meth
odism reach its goal.

death of her sister-in-law, Mrs
Edna Cain Daniel.

Daffodil Show
Scheduled March 6
The Cherokee Rose Garden
Club will stage their second an
nual daffodil show on March 6
at the Memorial Home from 2
p.m. to 8 p.m.
The theme of the show is "The
Cherokee Rose Sunday Journal.”
There will be arrangements
depicting all sections of a Sun
| day edition.
An integral part of the flower
show is the horticulture section
which is open to the public. All
"growers” are urged to exhibit,
and the following rules are
given as a guide to exhibitors:
1. Horticulture entries must be
checked in between 8:00 and
10:30 a.m. on March 6.
. All specimen daffodils must
be named.

The Woman’s Society of Chris
tian Service of the Lyerly Meth
odist Church held the monthly
meeting last week. The subject
of the program study was "Whom
Shall I Send." There were eight
een present between the two
circles.
Circle No. 1 met Tuesday night
with Mrs. J. L Wilson, with Mrs.
Richard White in charge of the
program.
Circle No. 2 met Tuesday aft
ernoon with Mrs L B Cook, Jr.,
Mn. Paul Dearman was in
charge of the program.
A part of the business program
included the organizing of a Day
Church School for the primary
and junior age children. We be
lieve this will be of much im
portance in the work of the W.
8. C. 8.. and in the training of
the children in church work.—
