Lester Edwards attended the
Ist Reunion of World War I Vet
erans 106th Trench Mortar Bat
tery 31st Division, which met in
Sylacauga, Alabama, Saturday.
There were about 40 present
from Texas, Tennessee, Georgia,
Alabama, Florida and Missis
sippi. It was an enjoyable occa
sion for all.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wade
and Miss Emma Cavin spent
Friday in Chattanooga.
Mr. and Mrs. Huell Swader
and children of Rossville visited

noon.
Mrs. Ralph Mackey and chil

J. T. Clark returned last week,
after recuperating with the
Charles Seatons in Austell. Mrs.
Seaton and children accompa
nied him for a few days’ visit,
then Mr. Seaton was here for
the week-end. All were Sunday
dinner guests of the R. D.
Chamblees, also Miss Mary Ann
Clark and four friends who were
her guests, from the University
of Georgia. They had spent the
week-end in Cloudland with
Miss Elfle Kindler.
Mrs. Adies Holliday and chil
dren of Manchester visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
Chappelear, over the week-end.
Other Sunday dinner guests
were Reverend and Mrs. J. B.
McNeil and son, Brit, Mr. and
Mrs. G. W. Welch and Miss
Nanci Welch.
Mr. and Mrs. Z. B. Ham and
son, Zane, of Chattanooga, were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Lawless over the week-end. TMiss
Jeanette Baker, also of Chatta
nooga, was home for the week
end.

Waco, Texas, to attend gradua
tion at Baylor University, where
Miss Marion Lawrence is a sen
ior. Her brother, Jimmy, is a
freshman there and has been
very ill for several weeks.

Mrs. Joe Simmons, Mrs. Richard
Romine and Miss Jeanette Baker
visited the Bobby Simmons in
Jacksonville, Alabama, and to
see little Suzanna, who was born
Friday, May 22.

Rome and Mrs. Margaret Moody
and Irene of Summerville were
supper guests of the Sell Mc-
Whorters Sunday. Mrs. Shore re
turned to Rome with the Dodds.

Church to a full house. There
are 28 seniors this year, who will
receive displomas tonight (Mon
day) at the School Cafetorium.
Most of the high school went to
Lake Winnepesaukah Monday
for a picnic—except the Bth
grade which picnicked in the
Lawrence City Park here in
Menlo.

S. Trion Nazarene
Church Revival
A revival will begin on Sunday
night, May 31, at the South
Trion Nazarene Church, accord
ing to an announcement by the
pastor, Reverend Grady Hayes.
Services will be held each eve
ning at 7:30 o’clock and will
continue through June 14.
Reverend Hayes said that the
Bender Family will preach and
conduct musical portions of the
services. He invites the public to
attend.
Mrs. Edna Beck
Passes Away
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna
Smith Beck. 42, Route 2. Sum
merville, who died Thursday
night following a lengthy ill
ness, were held Saturday at 2:00
o’clock from the Pennville Gos
pel Tabernacle with the Rev
erends Glenn Buelter and Frank
Lewis officiating.
Surviving are one daughter.
Miss Elaine Beck: Mother, Mrs.
H. T. Smith, Route 2, Summer
ville; three sisters. Mrs. Ola
Cochran, Miss Inez Smith, both
of Route 2. Summerville, and
Mrs. Mattie Lee Broome. Route
1, Summerville; two brothers.
James R. Smith and Milton
Smith, both of Summerville,
and three nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Hoyt Vines,
James Vines, Bud Luckett, Ervin
Glass, Herman Petitt and Elton
Pope.
Burial was in the Harris Ceme
tery. near Cedar Bluff, Alabama.
Erwin Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
