Veterinary Group
Urges Dog Owners
Give Vaccination
Rabies will not be a problem
in any Georgia county if citizens
will see to it that the dog popu
lation is vaccinated against
rabies annually, according to the
Georgia Veterinary Medical As
sociation.
Stray dogs particularly must
be controlled in the more popu
lated areas if rabies is to be pre
vented and the vaccination pro
gram supported.
According to the GVMA a
rabies outbreak generally occurs
when dog owners in an area fail
to accept their responsibility of
ownership and choose not to
have their dogs vaccinated. Such
a failure of responsibility en
dangers pets as well as the hu
man population in the commu-
• nity.
The GVMA urges everyone to
see to it that his dog and his
neighbor’s dog is vaccinated
against rabies each year. The
Association points out that al
though rabies cannot be cured,
it can be prevented—if people
care enough

UNIVERSITY ROME
(ENTER CHANGES
CLASS SCHEDULES
Classes will be held on a two
night a week schedule at the
University of Georgia Rome Cen
ter, it was announced today.
Classes will be held on Mon
days and Thursdays, instead of
on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays. There will, however, be
no reduction in class time,
Marion J. Rice, Director, empha
sized. The length of class meet
ings will be extended an hour
and a half each night to make
up for the elimination of Fri
days.
The shift was being made at
THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1959
this time, Mr. Rice explained, on
the basis of a recent and pre
vious informal surveys in which
most students had expressed a
preference for the two-night
schedule. In view of the serious
enrollment problem resulting
from the application of campus
type application procedures to
evening college work, it was
hoped that the two-night sched
ule would make the program
more interesting to the adult
student.
Students who failed to take
the ‘ College Board Scholastic
Aptitude Test may take this test
on June 5 at 6:00 p.m. at the
Rome Center, without prior ap
plication. Prospective students
still have time to qualify for the
summer, if they file for admis
sion twenty days before regis
tration. Registration is June 11,
with classes beginning June 15.
