Miss Housch, Emory Gilmer
Reveal W edding Plans In June
Couple To Be Married in Ceremony
At I rion First Baptist Church
Plans for the wedding of Miss
Martha Jean Housch and Emory
Lee Gilmer are announced to
day. She is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Milton Housch, and the
prospective bridegroom’s parents
are Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Gilmer.
Miss Housch is the sister of
Miss Mary Alice Housch, Bobby
and Billy Housch. A graduate of
Summerville High School, the
bride recently received her B.S.
degree in Elementary Education
from West Georgia College, Car
rollton, Ga. She was listed in
Who’s Who in American Col
leges and was very active in
campus organizations. Her
church affiliation is with the

Speaks Vows June 20
Former Summerville High Student Is
Presently leaching in Jacksonville
Reverend and Mrs. Harry Robert Foster of Jackson
ville, Fla., formerly of Summerville, announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Miss Ina Dorothy Foster, to John
Alan Moore of Atlanta and Chattanooga. He is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Z. O. Moore of Chattanooga.
Miss Foster is the sister of
Miss Betty Foster, Mrs. Kenneth
Dean of Jacksonville and Miami
and Doctor Harry Foster of
Lithonia. She attended Summer
ville High School and graduated
from Andrew Jackson Senior
High School in Jacksonville. Her
father was former pastor of
the Summerville Presbyterian
Church.
Miss Foster graduated from
Oglethorpe University and is
presently teaching in Jackson
ville. At Oglethorpe she was a
cheerleader captain and was
named “Miss Oglethorpe” in
1958.
The prospective bridegroom is
the brother of Miss Diane Moore
of Chattanooga. He is the grand
son of Mrs. W. W. Atkins and
the late Mr. Atkins, and of the
Happy Birthday Party Group . . .

Pioneer Group To
Attend Camp With
Church's Leaders
Several boys and girls of the
Pioneer Group of the Summer
ville Presbyterian Church will
leave Sunday afternoon for a
week’s stay at Camp Unicoi, near
Helen, Georgia.
Reverend W. E. Hotchkiss,
Mrs. Joe Pitts and Mrs. William
Neal, leaders, will accompany the
Summerville group.
Reverend William F. Lee, pas
tor of the Menlo Presbyterian
Church, is Director for the
camp and Reverend Leroy P.
Gwaltney, pastor of the Trion
Church, is Assistant Director in
charge of Vespers. Mrs. Baker
Willingham of Cloudland, leader,
will also attend.
Local boys and girls who will
attend the camp are Gordon
Allen, Johnny and Bob Agnew,
Jenny Ballenger, David and
Carole Espy, Sam Jones, Leatha
Miller, Joe Pitts, Randy Taylor
and Bill Whisnant.
Tiie Summerville group will be
joined by boys and girls from
Trion, to include Kenneth Dal
ton, Dale Housch, Phil Hix and
George Hix. The Trion unit will
be headed by Reverend Gwalt
ney.
Accompanied by Reverend Lee,
Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Willingham and
Monnie Sue Hill will make the
trip.

Groundbreaking Is
Scheduled Sunday
Groundbreaking c e re m onies
for a new church edifice will be
held by the Pennville Christian
and Missionary Alliance Church
Sunday afternoon, June 14, at 4
o’clock.
Reverend C. W. Crowe, the
church pastor, said today that
Reverend T. Perry Brannon of
Chattanooga will participate in
the ceremonies. Reverend Bran
non is well-known in this area.
Bryce Evans is the contractor
for the new building which will
be located immediately to the
rear of the Calhoun Cemetery in
Pennville.
The general public had been
; invited to the groundbreaking
| event.
West Summerville
WMS Holds Meeting
The WMS of the West Sum
merville Baptist Church met last
Thursday at the home of Miss
Katherine Millican.
Miss Ethel Millican was in
charge of the meeting which was
opened with a prayer by Mrs. Joe
Caheely. Theme of the month’s
program was “Praise from the
Isles.”
The closing prayer was given
by Mrs. Ruth Groce.

Smithson, became the bride of
Carl N. Morrison in a ceremony
solemnized Saturday evening,
June 6, at the South Summer
ville Baptist Church by Reverend
Tom Freeney, the church pastor.
The bridegroom is the son of i
Newton Morrison and the late
Mrs. Morrison of Rome.
The best man was Tom Couey
and usher - groomsmen were
Bobby Smithson, Pat Freeney,
Ted Underwood and Randy
Freeney.
Nancy Ruth Bishop was the
i maid -of - honor. Bridesmaids
I were Imogene Clements, Nancy
Thomas, Anita Mosley and Janet
Freeney. The flower girl for the
i ceremony was Susan Smithson,
sister of the bride. The ring-
I bearer was Gary Thomas.
Nuptial music of traditional
wedding selections was rendered
by Mr.s. John D. Taylor at the or
gan. The soloist, Phyllis Hairston,
sang “O Perfect Day” and “Wed
ding Prayer”, following the close
of the double-ring ceremony.
Magnolia leaves and other
greenery formed a backdrop for
an ivy-covered arch which was
the setting for the nuptials. It
was flanked by baskets of white
gladioli and candelabrum.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
gown of white bridal lace. It had i
a fitted bodice accented with!
tulle. The tiered skirt was of:
tulle and trim over taffeta. A
tiara of seed pearls held the
wedding veil. For her bouquet, i
she carried a Bible topped with
white orchids feathered with
carnations.
The bridesmaids wore gowns
of lavendar, pink and blue or
gandy with bell sleeves and full'
skirts. They carried old-fash
ioned arm bouquets of gladioli.
Gowned in a floor length,
white organdy dress with scal
loped net overskirt, the flower
girl carried a majestic daisy
bouquet. It was encircled by tiny
field daisies and her tiara was
of net and small daisies.
Mrs. Smithson, the bride’s
mother, wore a gown of printed
silk with white accessories. She
carried lavendar orchids.
Mrs. Morrison, stepmother of
