Get well wishes go to Miss
Anne Stallings who is a patient
at Chattooga County Hospital.
Many people attended the
dedication service at the First
Baptist Church Sunday. The
guest speaker was Rev. James
Branch of Hapeville. Special
music was provided by the Chil
dren’s Home Band, containing
28 pieces and is now led by the
noted musical arranger and di
rector. Waller Sheets, Mr. Sheets
is a graduate of the Philadelphia
Conservatory of Music and was
once a member of the nationally
known Philadelphia Symphony
Orchestra. An open house of the
new educational building was
held immediately after a buffet
style luncheon in the church
dining room.
Mr. and Mrs. John Wyatt Rose
spent the week-end here with
relatives and also attended the
special services at the Baptist
Church. 4
Mrs. Mark Strawn and Miss
Mamie Smith were the guests of
Miss Jessie Rose at the Baptist
Church Sunday.
Mrs. Lee Borders of Atlanta
spent the week-end with her
parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. Monroe
Stephens. Mrs. Borders was ac
companied here by Miss Kaye
Millican, a student at Marsh
Business College who spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs.
Watt Millican. Mrs. George Sitton
returned home with Mrs. Bor
ders Sunday for a few days’
visit.
Miss Betty Anne Gaylor of
Rome spent the week-end with
her mother, Mrs. Margie Gay
lor.

Robert and Mr. and Mrs. Joe

Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Simmone

visited Mrs. H. L. Smith and

der and family Friday after
noon. Later they were the eve
ning dinner guests of Mr. and j

Johnny Bryant and girls were
also dinner guests.

Everyone is invited to attend
Lyerly Little League ball games
being played on the Summerville
ballfield. The ball club is doing
a fine job this season, having
won over half of all their games.

guest of Anne Wyatt Sunday.

J. E. Peterson, 67, is shown

this summer, at his home at
201 Kelly Street. The sun
flower, which is 12 feet high,
was not planted, reported Mr.
Peterson. He used no fertili
zer, although he tended it
when he did his other flowers.
Mr. Peterson has been retired
for four years. He was em
ployed by the Summerville
Manufacturing Company.

and Ronnie. Douglas, a 1957
graduate of Lyerly High School,
is now stationed at McGuire Air
Force Base, N.J., and has served
at Texas and Illinois bases also.

family of Hialeah, Fla., spent
last week with Mr. Potter’s rela
tives here, Mr. and Mrs. J. T.
Ragland, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pot
ter and others.

merville spent a few days last
week with her sister, Mrs. Lee
Powell. Ellis Powell of Chatta
nooga was also a visitor last
week with Mrs. Powell.

Miss Sue Copeland, who has
planned an August wedding to
Billy Cargle, of Little Sand
Mountain, was honored with a
miscellaneous shower at the
home of Mrs. Jim Anderson last
Thursday night. Refreshments
of pimiento cheese sandwiches,
potato salad on lettuce, cookies
and cokes were served to ap
proximately 40 guests. Hostesses
were Mrs. Fred Stallings and
Mrs. Nell Floyd.
Marilyn Bryant spent Sunday
night with Mr. and Mrs. A. M.
Bryant and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Ayres
and daughter ,Glen of Detroit,
Mich., are here visiting Mr. and
Mrs. H. E. Williams and other
relatives.

6, at 7:30 p.m. (tonight). Visitors

on August 3 at the home of Mrs. ,

meeting, with nine members and
one visitor present.
The devotional was given by
Mrs. Cathryn Burgess, entitled
‘You Are Important,” which was j
followed by a chain of prayers. |
Mrs. Rollins, who was assisted [
by several others, gave an inter
esting lesson on “Faith With
Works” and “The Local Church.” |
After the business session, Mrs. ;

bership Pin given her by the so
ciety for her many years of un
