Mrs. Bettie Owens
Dies on Thursday
Mrs. Bettie Owens, 76, of
Route 1, Armuchee, lifetime resi
dent of Chattooga County, died
in a Rome hospital at 12:25 p.m
Thursday.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, James Ed Owens,
in 1941.
Mrs. Owens is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. J. B. King and
Mrs. Roy Hawkins, Route 1, Ar
muchee; three sons, W. L. and
Marvin Owens, Route 1, Ar
muchee, and Bill Owens, Ogle
thorpe Eighteen grandchildren
and 23 great-grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were con
ducted at the Sand Mountain
Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with
the Rev. Frank Lewis and the
Rev. W. F. Conn officiating.
Burial was in the churchyard
cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: J. R.
and Bill Hawkins, DeForest, Fur
man and Ray Owens and Hugh
Murdock.
Honorary pallbearers were: J.
B King, Jr., Kelly Owens. Shorty
Hawkins, Carlton Hawkins, Ted
Youngblood, Aaron Parker, War
ren Bybee, Bobby Hawkins, J. D.
Pinson, Jr., Roger Brown, Mel
vin Stonei.
J. D. Hill Funeral Home had
charge.
