The annual summer reunion
of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
Parker was held Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Parker in Subligna. All but two
of the thirteen brothers and sis
ters were present. Each family
prepared a basket lunch and
spread under the trees in the
yard.
Among those enjoying the
event were: Mr. and Mrs. Mar
vin Parker, of Rossville; and
two of their granddaughters,
Misses Brenda and Beverly
Parker, of Atlanta; Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Kimbell and Beth,
Mr. and Mrs. James Haygood
and Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell

ited Mr. and Mrs. James Crook
and William H. Keith Thursday
night.

Mr. and Mrs. James Fowler and
children.
Mr. and Mrs. James Haygood
and Marie, of Gadsden, spent
Saturday night with Mr. and
Mrs. K. A. Veatch.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Crider and
girls, of Rome, visited Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Teague and girls Sun
day.
Our community was deeply
saddened last Thursday because
of the sudden death of the Rev.
Roy E. Huston, pastor of the
First Baptist Church of Trion.
To the family we send our sym
pathy, also to the families of
Dick Palmer, Mr. Lowery and
Mr. Haggard. May God bless
each of you in your sad hours.
Mrs. Joe Edwards visited Mrs.
Willie Bell Minor Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hall and
Ronnie had as their Saturday
spend-the-day guests the Rev.
and Mrs. Milo Knight, of
Chickamauga.
Mrs. Mary Ruth Harris and
Mrs. Elfredia Tuggle were in
Chattanooga Friday.
We send cheerful get-well
wishes to Miss Dot Teague who
recently underwent surgery in
Erlanger Hospital in Chatta
nooga.
Mrs. Lula Comer, of Powder
Springs, spent the week-end
with her daughter, Mrs. Bessie
Howell. They enjoyed attending
church services at the Mountain
View Baptist Church.
Miss Brenda Grimes, a stu
dent at Shorter College, was
week-end guest of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Grimes Sr.
She returned to campus Sunday
afternoon.
Miss Brenda Brown, of Cal
houn, spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Grady Lively and Rita.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Jackson, of

Little Miss Deborah Crabtree,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Crabtree, was Thursday
night spend-the-night guest of
Barbara Parker.
Approximately 60 people en
joyed a family get-together at
the B. & P.W. Park in Trion
Sunday honoring the Rev. and
Mrs. Ralph Brown and Brenda,
of Calhoun, who has accepted
the church at Mountain View.
Everyone enjoyed the fellowship
together.
Get well wishes are sent to
Mrs. Carlos Howell, a patient at
the Riegel Memorial Hospital in
Trion. We hope she will be able
to return home soon.
Cleveland Howell, of Nashville,
spent the week-end with Mrs.
Howell and Randy.

dren left Monday for Arizona to
join Mr. Ratliff for a visit.

were Sunday visitors at Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Stephenson’s.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Strawn en
joyed a barbecue dinner Sunday
in Summerville with R. D. Davi
son.
V. B. McCrickard and Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Strawn visited Mr.
and Mrs. Rob Womack Sunday.
Mrs. Rains, of Pennville, spent
several days last week with Mr.
close friends of the couple. Their
attendants will be David Elliott
and Miss Faye Watkins.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tucker
were married in an impressive
cermony, Saturday night at
the Welcome Hill Baptist
Church. The Rev. A. A. Tanner
performed the ceremony. The
couple will be at home on Park
Avenue in Trion with the bride’s
aunt. Mrs. Fannie Mae Brown.
A large group from this com
munity attended the funeral of
the Rev. Roy Huston Sunday at
the First Baptist Church.
CHURCH BRIEFS
The Mountain View Baptist
Church is happy to announce
that the Rev. Ralph Brown, of
Calhoun, has accepted the pas
torate at the church and gives
all their friends a cordial invita
tion to. attend services of the
church. He will begin filling the
pulpit Sunday morning. Also
our revival meeting will be held
beginning the fourth Sunday in
August.
