POLIO SHOTS
RECOMMENDED
Persons who have not received
polio immunizations should do
so right away, W. P Selman,
chairman of the Chattooga polio
chapter, said this week.
The shots may be obtained
from physicians or younger per
sons may receive free inocula
tions in the Chattooga Health
Department.
Thursday is immunization day
at the health department and
officials have announced today
is likely to be the last day on
which free vaccine will be avail
able for those ages 11 through 20
and for the fourth in the series

The Chattooga Board of Edu
cation has announced children
entering the first grade this
year must have had at least the
first two polio inoculations, in
addition to smallpox vaccina
tions and the DPT series.

Mr. Dunson has announced he
will go into the insurance busi
iness in Summerville September
1.
Mr. Morehead is presently
quality control manager at
Georgia Rug Mill. William Eli
Stephenson will assume the
duties of quality control super
visor July 17, replacing Mr.
Morehead.
Mr. Morehead is a native of
North Carolina but has lived in
Chattooga County since 1945. He
graduated from Summerville
High School in 1949 and at
tended Gardner-Webb College,
Boiling Springs, N. C. He served
for four years in the U.S. Navy
and joined Georgia Rug in
October, 1955 as assistant quality
control supervisor. He became
quality control manager in 1957.
Mr. Dunson successor is a
member of the Summerville
First Baptist Church, the Sum
merville Junior Chamber of
Commerce and is secretary of
the Summerville Lions Club.
He is married to the former
Miss Peggy Styles of Trion and
they have two children, Melanie
Susan 4 and Jeffrey David, 19
months. They reside on Hilltop
Drive.
In Afghanistan, horseshoe
shaped loaves of bread called
“nan” are baked from U. S. flour
sent in CARE packages to give
150.000 needy children a daily
school lunch of milk and bread.
The flour and powdered milk for
the meal are gifts from Ameri
cans who give $1 per package to
the CARE Food Crusade, New
York 16, N. Y.
