exoectedly at an early hour Tuesday,
will be held at 11 a.m. today (ThursdayI
at the Riegel Memorial Methodist Church.
The Rev. Shelton Adams and the Rev.
A. A. Tanner will officiate. Interment
will be in Trion Cemetery.

DIES AT TRION;
FUNERAL TODAY
Max Saylors, 40, 1129 Rose
Circle, Trion, died unexpectedly
at an early hour Tuesday
morning.
He was a member of Riegel
Memorial Methodist Church, a
veteran of World War 11, a
member of the VFW and the
American Legion. He had spent
his entire life in Chattooga
County.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Dies; Funeral Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Della
White Chambers, 89. resident of
Route 1 Trion, who died at her
home at 6:15 am. Friday, were
conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday
at the Mountain View Baptist 1
Church. The Rev. Milo Knight
and the Rev. Ralph Brown offi
ciated.
Burial was in the Howell
Cemetery.
Mrs. Chambers was a lifetime
resident of Chattooga County.!
She was preceded in death by
her husband. James Clayton
Chambers, in 1948.
She is survived by six daugh
ters, Mrs. Bill Kellett, Holland,
Mrs. Frank Kellett, Lindale, Mrs.
Carlos Thomas. LaFayette, and
Misses Elizabeth, Ruby and Ger
aldine Chambers, Trion Route 1;
two sons, John and Hoke Cham
bers, Trion; one sister, Mrs. Mat
tie Worsham, Holland; 16
grandchildren; many great
grandchildren, nieces and neph
ews.
Active pallbearers were: Les
ter, R. C. and Maxwell White,
Roy Worsham, James Fuller and
Johnny Ratliff.
J. D. Hill Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.
Melba Blankenship Saylors; one
daughter, Miss Pat Saylors; two
sons, Bill and Paul, all of Trion;
five sisters, Mrs. Walter Hay
good, Mrs. Howard Clifton, Mrs.
Betty Cleghorn, Mrs. Vena
Keown, all of Trion, and Mis.
Iva Gene Heaton. Bitburg, Ger
many; four brothers, John H.
and Melvin Saylors, both of
Trion: James E. Saylors, Phoe
nix, Ariz., and Earl Saylors,
Marietta. A number of nieces
and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held
today at 11 o’clock at the Riegel
Memorial Methodist Church
with the Rev. Shelton Adams
and the Rev. A. A. Tanner of
ficiating. Burial will be in the
Trion Cemetery.

Carnes, 80. resident of 318 Bit
ting Ave.. Summerville, who died
at his home at 8:25 p.m. Wed
nesday were conducted from the
Northside Baptist Church at 3
p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Bill
Chasteen, the Rev. C. E. Reece
and the Rev. Guye Elliott offi
ciating. Burial was in the Trion
Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Elizabeth Waters Carnes, Sum
merville; one daughter, Mrs.
Pearl Warren, Dalton; five sons,
Lonzo of Summerville, Hugh of
Villanow. Grady of Rocky Face,
Herbert of Dalton, and Claude
Carnes, of Calhoun; one broth
er, Simon Carnes, Athens, Tenn.

Dies; Funeral Sunday
H. Clayton Smallwood, 62, resi
dent of 234 Pine Street, Trion,
and supervisor in the Weave
Room of Riegel Textile Corp.,
Trion, until his recent illness,
died at his home at 8:35 p.m.
Friday.
Mr. Smallwood had spent his
entire lifetime in Trion. He was
a member of the Trion Baptist
Church and a veteran of World
War I.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Robina Bryant Smallwood;
two daughters, Mrs. Duke Jen
nings and Mrs. James Floyd,
Trion; one son, Jimmie C. Small
wood, Miami, Fla.; four grand
daughters; two grandsons; one
sister, Mrs. Taylor McKenzie,
Trion.
Funeral services were con
ducted at the Trion First Bap
tist Church Sunday at 4 p.m.
with the Rev. Roger McDonald,
the Rev. A. A. Tanner, and the
Rev. Shelton Adams officiating.
Burial was in the West Hill
Cemetery, Trion.
Active pallbearers were neph
ews. Honorary pallbearers were
members of the Brotherhood of
the Church and members of the
Men’s Bible Class of which Joe
Collette, Sr., is teacher.

Mrs. Anderson, 67,
Dies at Residence
Mrs. Bertie (Murray ( Ander
son, 67, wife of Grady Anderson,
Route 1, Trion, died at her home
at 6:40 am. Sunday.
She is survived by her hus
band; one daughter, Mrs. John
Neal, Trion; two sisters, Mrs. C.
W. Jackson and Mrs. Frank
Fletcher, LaFayette; two grand
daughters, Patricia and Teresa
Anderson; one grandson, Tommy
Anderson, all of Rossville.
Funeral services were con
ducted from the Wesley Chapel
Methodist Church, where she
was a member, at 2 p.m. Tues
day with the Rev. Johnny Har
rell and the Rev. J. R. McCurdy
officiating. Burial was in the
Church Cemetery
Active pallbearers were: Gor
don Fletcher, Raymond Watts,
Lee Anderson, Clifford Junkins,
Junior Miller and Hubert Wil
liams.
Honorary pallbearers were
members of the Ladies’ Adult
Sunday School class of Wesley
Chapel.
