Miss Naomi Faye Elsberry of Lyerly St., Summerville, became
the bride of William David Ramsey of Lyerly in a ceremony at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elsberry of Route 1, LaFayette
on September 1.

Lyerly Street, Summerville, an
nounce the marriage of their
daughter, Neomi Faye, to Wil
liam David (Billy) Ramsey of
Lyerly.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Bill Bishop of Lyerly and David
Ramsey of Florida.
The wedding took place at
7:30 p.m. September 1 at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Els
berry, Route 1, LaFayette. A re
ception was held following the
wedding. Wedding cake, punch,
nuts and mints were served.
Bill Floyd served as best man
and Rose Mary Wesson served as
the bride’s only attendant.
Phylis Powell was ring bearer
and Bob Elsberry gave his sister
away.
The Rev. T. A. Wallace of
Lyerly performed the ceremony.
The bride wore a baby blue lace
dress over taffeta, with matching
accessories. The bridesmaid wore
a blue embroidered taffeta dress
with black lace. The shoulder
corsages were of white carna
tions.
The immediate families of
the couple and close friends at
tended the wedding.
The bride is employed at Eli
and Walker in LaFayette and
the groom is employed at the
Georgia Rug Mill.
The young couple will be at
home at 31 Park Avenue, Trion.

a party Saturday, given by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mor
ris.

Labor Day was set aside by these pictured as “Old Timers Meet
ing Day” at the Riegel Memorial Methodist Church here. This
year as the ladies of the church working with the Pastor, Rev.
L S. Baugh and Mrs. Earl Williams, the group’s Labor Day sup
per gathering hosted about 37 people and was considered a big
success. The pictured group here listed Milton Tate, at 83,
standing left end, and Mrs. J. R. Ponder, 82, seated second from
right end, as the eldest. Total ages for the group including the
Old Timer’s mascot, Robert Baugh. 12, amounted to 2,055 years.

all-day outing Saturday at
Reuben Lyons’ cottage at Lake
LaHoosage.
The honorees included: Misses

Jr. and Mid Allen 111.
A picnic lunch and supper,
swimming, fishing and boating
were enjoyed.

Is Flower Show Theme
“America the Beautiful.”
That’s the timely theme of the flower show to be pre
sented at the Chattooga County Fair Oct. 5-7.
The Chattooga and Cherokee Rose Garden Clubs will
sponsor the event.
Members of the flower show
committee say they believe the
theme is not only timely but
should prove to be outstanding
in beauty and meaning for all
patriotic Americans.
“America the Beautiful” por
trayed through the artistic ar
rangements of flowers will be
staged in six classes to make the
cherished words of Katharine
Lee Bates come to life,” it was
stated.
The classes are:
Class I —“O beautiful for spa
cious skies.”
Class II—“For ambo 1- waves of
grain.”
Class III—“For pun .e moun
tain majesties.”
Class IV—“Above the fruited
plain.”
Class v — “America, America,

access to the many artistic abili
ties within these Clubs, the stag
ing promises to be unique and
inspiring to the theme of the
show, the chairmen said.
The Garden Clubs are again
urging all residents of Chattooga
County who wish to enter horti
culture in the fair flower show
to begin now preparing plants
and disbudding horticulture
specimen for this purpose.
Rules and regulations along
with the premium list for the
horticulture classes, were listed
in last week’s issue of The Sum
merville News under Flower De
partment.
Ribbons and premiums will be
awarded for first, second and
third places in both the artistic
and horticulture classes. Tri
color ribbon of the Garden Club
of Georgia will be awarded the
most outstanding artistic ar
rangement and the Award of
Merit to the most outstanding
specimen of Horticulture.

School class, church nursery and
neighborhood, accompanied by
their mothers, enjoyed the oc
casion.
Miss Dianne McWhorter as
sisted little John in greeting his
guests at the door. After an hour
of play, the little folks were in
vited into the family room where
a large birthday cake holding
three candles was the featured
attraction.
Refreshments consisting of
birthday cake, ice cream and
pink lemonade were served. A
toy poodle with attached ball
was the birthday remembrance
given each little person to take
home.
