Joint Meeting
The Tri-Hi-Y Club of Chat
tooga High School, and spon
sor, Mrs. Nan Rich, were hostess
to the Hi-Y, sponsored by
Charles Hidle, November 28, for
a joint meeting at the Summer
ville Presbyterian Church.
About 25 Tri-Hi-Y members
and 10 Hi-Y members were pres
; ent.
In keeping with the patriotic
i atmosphere, a group of Boy
| Scouts performed a flag cere
mony. Mr. Scoggins, Scout lead
er, was also present
The speaker for the evening
was the Rev. Roy Gwaltney of
Jaycees Give

Monday night was a big oc
casion for a number of people.
! This was the night of the foot
| ball banquet. The football play
; ers and cheerleaders were in
: vited and all guests that would
I come.
The meal consisted of broiled
I chicken, baked potatoes, cole
i slaw, sliced tomatoes, lima
beans. Hot biscuits were served |
with the meal. Coffee was the i
; beverage.
The guest speaker of the night
was Dr. Leroy Martin. Dr. Mar
: tin spoke on the subject “How
to be a Success in the World.”
After Dr. Martin’s enjoyable
and enlightening talk, the foot
ball trophies were presented.
Coach Paul Quinn presented
the trophy for best lineman.
The audience all waited as Mr.
Quinn approached the climax.
Finally he announced Pete
Boney Best Lineman. Pete’s face
gleamed as he received his
beautiful trophy.
Coach Rex Cassiday presented
i the “Best Baek" trophy. He too i
: was awaited by the audience.
. "Sammy Strange, come for-1
i ward please." said Mr. Cassiday '

trophy. You could tell that
Sammy was overpowered with
i joy.
The third trophy was pre
! sented by George Brooks of the
Jaycees. He was to present the
sportsmanship trophy. Mr.
Brooks gave the following poem:
j Now that football season’s over,
The pigskin has ceased to
bounce,
The backs got all the glory.
But it’s what’s up front that
counts.
Mr Brooks then awarded the
sportsmanship award to Jud
Baker. Jud, along with Pete and
Sammy, gleamed. His shy ways
reflected in his very reddened
1 face.
