Mailing, Postmaster Urges

paign.
Looking ahead to what, may
be the biggest Christmas season
ever, the postmaster said fur

Christmas card and package
An explanation of the terms i
“Local Delivery’’ and “Out of \
Town Delivery” used on labels ;
for separating and bundling
Christmas cards was given
this week by Summerville
Postmaster John Stubbs.
“Local” means all cards and
letters to be delivered to any
Summerville address whether
it be street address, rural
route address or post office
box address. “Out of Town"
means all cards and letters
addressed to any town or city
except Summerville.
In addition, Postmaster
Stubbs announced a change
in Post Office hours, during
the holiday season. Beginning
this Saturday, the office will
be open until 5 p.m. for the
three next Saturdays, and be
ginning Monday, it will be
open until 5:30 p.m. weekdays,
delivered before December 25 — !
Check your Christmas card ;
and gift lists carefully. Be sure
each address is complete with ; ]
full name, street and number, 1
city, zone and state. Avoid 1
abbreviations of city and state i
names.
For your gift packages, secure '
heavy wrapping paper, study .
! corrugated cartons, strong cord 1
! and adhesive tape. Remember,;
aiso, that you can include your
; Christmas card or letter inside 1

Two fCnlist in AF;
Graduation From High
School Now Required
Two youths from Chattooga
' County enlisted in the United
’ States Air Force during Novem
ber and have been assigned to
Lackland Air Force Base, San
; Antonio, Texas for five weeks
: basic training.
The youths were Jerry L.
Grimes of 1 Myers Avenue,
Trion, and Bobby E. Farmer of
Route 1, Summerville. The new
enlistees will be assigned to a
technical training school of
their choice following basic'
training or they may elect to re-1
ceive their specialized training ;
’ by working with other qualified ;
’ technicians already in the Air
Force.
Technical Sergeant William E.
; McMillan, Air Force Recruiter
’ for the Chattooga County area,
also reported that the Air Force
now requires a young man to
possess a high school education
before he can be processed for
enlistment. This requirement
has been in effect for some time
: for young ladies qualifying for
' the Women’s Air Force.
Technical Sergeant McMillan
is at the Summerville draft
board each Tuesday afternoon
from 1 to 3 to talk with young
people from this area interested
in the Air Force.
