Seventh District Congressman
John Davis stated this week he
has learned that the entire $654
million airlift aircraft program
contained in President Ken
nedy’s budget message will go to
I the Lockheed-Georgia plant at
i Marietta if approved by Con
gress.
Mr. Davis said the entire ex
panded airlift program will con
sist of C-141 Starlifter and
C-130 Hercules aircraft, both of
Which are built at Marietta.
Asserting that it is “highly
unlikely” that the program will
not be approved, Representative
Davis said: “With the present
cold war status, and the recent
near hot war over Cuba, it is a
virtual certainty that Congress
will approve these funds needed
to increase our conventional
warfare capabilities.”
“I, too, am very much aware
of the impact such a program
would have upon the economy
of the Seventh District through
increased and continued high
employment at the Lockheed-
Georgia facility, and, therefore,
will extend my complete sup
port to the program,” Repre
sentative Davis concluded.
