Given Surprise
Birthday Fete
One of the best and most
“well kept” surprises took place
Saturday afternoon at the lovely
home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Allen on Simmons Street. The
occasion was a well planned
surprise birthday luncheon for
Mrs. Hazel Willis. It seems Mrs.
Helen Powell was very busy
Saturday keeping Hazel pre
occupied until lunch time and
while on the pretense of on
their way to “eat out”, acci
dentally stopped by Mildred’s
house for a minute. Mildred,
who is always a charming
hostess, had invited the girls
who work with Hazel to enjoy
the surprise. As to not give the
surprise away, the girls stayed
in the den and as Hazel and
Mrs. Powell came through the
doorway, they all joined in
singing “Happy Birthday”, with
Lois Housch playing the piano.

leather more supple. Just as a baseball player lubricates and “works”
his glove to soften it so does the shoe manufacturer. Result: a new
light-footed feeling for men. Shoe shown by Bostonian. Available at
