Leon Dooley, son of the Rev.
and Mrs. Sidney Dooley, of
Summerville, was solemnized on
Saturday, February 16, at the'
home of the bride.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by the Rev. Floyd
Higgins before a background of

metric Congress in Atlanta
Saturday through Tuesday.
While they were away Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Crotty and Stephen
stayed with the Payne children.
Mr. and Mrs. Norris Gamble,
of Rome, announce the birth of
their second daughter, Alice
Kyle, Feb. 23. Mr. Gamble is a
former resident of Summerville.
Students from the University
of Georgia, visiting their parents
this week-end were: Billy John
son and Pete Dunson. Those
from other schools were Martha
James, Joyce Eleam, Gail Hill,
Steve Edwards and Pat Ruther
ford.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Canada,
Eugene Mitchell and Jean
Parker were in Chattanooga
Sunday.
Mrs. Johnny Jenkins and son,
Chris, and Miss Gretna Kinsey
spent Thursday in Atlanta and
visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Morgan and daughter, Tracy, in
Smyrna.
Cecil Edwards, of Atlanta, was
guest of his mother, Mrs. Leo
Edwards, over the week-end.
Mrs. Zola Lane, of Chatta
nooga, was week-end guest of
Mr. and Mrs. George Lane and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Jenkins
spent several days this week
with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mor
gan in Smyrna. Johnny Jenkins
arrived home Friday after
serving three years in service
and was discharged this past
week.
Mrs. Gene Dean, of Chicka
mauga, and Mrs. D. L. Dean, of
Rossville, were Monday guests
of Mrs. Earl Parris.

Thursday.
The birthday theme featured
George Washington, using red,
white and blue as the color
scheme. Door prize consisted of
guessing how many candy balls
there were in a jar. After games,
cup cakes and punch were
served.

Jack Hickey assisted Mrs. Mar
tin in serving.
Invited guests included: Greg
Espy, Sally Cook, Jimmy Posey,

Omie Wiley when the Pennville
Home Demonstration Club met
at the school.
The devotional was given by
Mrs. Milton Housch and prayer
was offered by Mrs. Luke Young.
Mrs. Grady Fay Ramey presided.
The next meeting will be at
12:15 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at
Pennville School.

Emory University. He is a mem
ber of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity
and will graduate in Business
Administration and Law at
Emory.
After the wedding the couple
will go to Paris, Texas, where
Mr. Marshall will work as as
sistant manager of KPLT Radio
Station for the summer.

Demonstration Club meeting

Miss Omie Wiley taught the

Celebration
An annual occasion was again
observed Saturday evening when
three couples assembled at the
home of the Charles W. Lowrys,
of Gore, for dinner.
The annual fete Is in connec
tion with the birthdays of Mrs.
Tox Fox and Charles Lowry and
the wedding anniversary of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Chappelear.
Attending were Mr. and Mrs.
Fox and Jan, Mr. and Mrs.
Chappelear, all of Menlo, and
the Lowrys. The Chappelears
have been married 17 years.

At Teloga HD
Needlepoint in pictures and
the use of various necklines were
demonstrated Wednesday, Feb.
20, when the Teloga Home Dem
onstration Club met at the home
of Mrs. C. M. Ledford.
Miss Omie Wiley gave the
demonstrations. Mrs. Ortha Gil
breath was the model for the
neckline demonstration.
Mrs. Bess Smith gave the de
votional and Mrs. Ann Ward
called the meeting to order and
read reports.
Refreshments were served to
the nine members attending.

bride of Jerry Wayne Lancaster,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W.
Lancaster of Forest Park Feb
ruary 3 at a beautiful ceremony
in the sanctuary of the First
Methodist Church of Carrollton.
Rev. William A. Tyson, pastor,
performed the impressive double
ring rites.
Banks of emerald foliage
formed a background for the
pyramid of burning white tapers.
A large lacy heart comprised of
white chrysanthemums, pom
poms, and gladioli, formed the
center arrangement. Stately tree
candelabras holding burning
white tapers flanked the ar
rangement on either side and
single cathedral candles In brass
holders designated the section
of the white draped altar rail
where the vows were exchanged.
Family pews were marked with
white satin bows and wedding
bells.
Mrs. Lucian B. Munn, organ
ist, rendered the traditional
nuptial music while Miss Jean
Cashen of Atlanta, soloist, sang
“Through the Years” and “The
Lord’s Prayer."
Ronnie Lancaster, brother of
the groom, served as best man.
Ushergroomsmen were Kenneth
Bowman of Atlanta, cousin of
the groom; Jimmy Royals and
Tracy Campbell of Trion. Messrs.
Bowman and Campbell lighted
the candles.
Mrs. Kenneth M. Lyle of Car
rollton attended as her sister’s
matron of honor. Bridesmaids
were Miss Mary Carol Ward of
Jackson, Miss., and Mrs. Doug
las Bell of Smyrna.
Little Miss Sandy Tucker of
Carrollton was a junior brides
maid. They were identically at
tired in gowns of emerald green
peau de sole featuring controlled
bell skirts, moulded bodices,
scooped necklines, and cap
sleeves. Their matching hats
were inverted crowns studded
with seed pearls and featuring
circular veils. The attendants
wore short white gloves and
pearl earrings, gifts of the bride;
and the Junior bridesmaid wore
a cultured pearl necklace, also
a gift of the bride. Each carried
bouquets of white carnations.
GIVEN IN MARRIAGE
BY FATHER
The lovely bride, given in
marriage by her father, ascend
ed the aisle wearing a floor
length gown of white delustered
satin made along princess lines.
The scooped neckline was ap
pliqued in re-embroidered Alen
con lace studded with seed
pearls, and the same design
flowed from the moulded bodice
down the skirt front. The long
sleeves ended In calla points

last Thursday. They are the
daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Benny McArthur, Lyerly Road.
over the bride’s hands. The car
riage back featured a sash and
the full skirt extended into a
chapel train.
Her bouffant veil of tiered il
lusion was attached to a queen’s
crown of pearls. The small white
Bible she carried was a gift
from the Primary Class of
8 year olds she taught several
years ago and has been treas
ured for me occasion. It was
topped by a white orchid,
feathered carnations, and satin
streamers. The bride wore tiny
cultered pearl earrings, a gift of
the groom.
Mrs. Crow chose for her
daughter’s wedding a lace
sheath of burnished avacado
with matching accessories. She
wore a corsage of white carna
tions.
The groom’s mother wore a
lace sheath, jacket ensemble of
Dior blue with matching acces
sories. Her corsage was white
carnations.
GOING AWAY TRIP
For a wedding trip to Gatlin
burg, the bride chose an origi
nal model of kelly green wool
crepe. She wore a matching pill
box hat with a nose length veil
and bone patent accessories. To
complete her outfit, the orchid
corsage was lifted from the
bride's bouquet and pinned on
her shoulder. Following their
honeymoon, the couple will re
side at 2235 Belvedere Avenue In
Atlanta.
RECEPTION
Following the ceremony, the
bride’s parents entertained at
an informal reception in fellow
ship hall of the church.
The bride's table was draped
in a white satin cloth and held
a lovely three-tired wedding
cake embossed in white with
pale green roses and lilies of
the valley. Tall burning tapers,
nested in beds of net, lace fern
and white carnations, were
placed at either end of the
table.
The refreshment table was
overlaid with a mint green cloth
and centered by a silver epergne
holding an arrangement of yel
low gladioli, pom-poms, stock
and gypsophelia. On either side
three branched silver candela
bras held burning tapers.
Mrs. William H. Trinker pre
sided over the coffee service
