charged Friday by Summerville
officers with disorderly conduct
with an auto.
Chester Conway. Floyd Coun
ty, was jailed Sunday on charges
of disorderly conduct with an
automobile.
Robert Scott. Georgia Avenue,
Summerville, was charged Sun
day by Summerville police with
a peeping tom offense.
Two juveniles were turned
over to juvenile authorities by
Summerville police this week
after being charged with at
tempted larceny at the Magic
Wash on East Washington
Street.

Items Taken
In Burglary
Some 24 items were stolen from
Stansell Furniture and Appliance
Co., near Trion, in a Saturday
night break-in.
This was the second burglary
this year of the firm.
Entry was gained by knocking
down a portion of a rear door.
Items taken included three por
table Westinghouse television
sets, two amplifiers, a magnatone
and a supro, a Gretsch guitar,
PX6132-42578, a Gibson bass gui
tar FBO 81851, a steam iron, 10
Zenith radios, three clocks and
three Zenith transistor radios.
In the first burglary of the
year, the thieves took two tele
vision sets, two 9x12 chenille
rugs, two amplifiers and one
Sunbeam grill.

Dies Wed.
C. M. McLeod, 80, of Summer
ville, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday
fo'’owine a brief illness.
Mr. McLeod was born in
Pickens County August 24, 1882,
the son of the late Rocksie Pack
and Bud McLeod. He had re
sided in Summerville for the
past 30 years. A retired farmer,
Mr. McLeod was married to the
former Miss Elizabeth Cochran
who survives.
Surviving are the wife; two,
daughters, Mrs. Opal Brooks and
Mrs. Ruby Hampton, Atlanta;
two sons, W. A. McLeod, Rome,
and Arvel McLeod, Trion; three
sisters, Mrs. Rosa Evans, Fair
mount; Mrs. Sallie Black. Fort
Payne, Ala,, and Mrs. Henry
Bridges Calhoun; one brother,
Grady McLeod, Birmingham, i
Ala.; nine grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) from
the Chapel of the J. D. Hill
Funeral Home with the Rev.
C. E. Reece and the Rev. Bob
Patterson officiating. Burial will
follow in the family lot of West
Hill Cemetery, Trion.
Pallbearers will include: Har
old McLeod, Paul Silvers, James
Shireman, L. D. Holbrook, Ray
Chamlee and Claude Hall. These
gentlemen are requested to meet
at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m.
on Thursday.

Dies at 91;
Rites Monday

J. P. Agnew, age 91, a promi
nent retired farmer of Chat
tooga County, died Saturday
night in Stone Mountain, fol
lowing an illness of several
months.
Mr. Agnew was born in Menlo
Sept. 26, 1871 the son of the late
Mary Powers and Dave Agnew.
He had spent the greater part
of his life in Menlo and was a
member of the Menlo Presby
terian Church.
Mr. Agnew was married to the
former Miss Emma Wyatt who
preceded him in death in 1957.
Surviving are three daughters,
] Mrs. Lester Edwards, Menlo,
Miss Lucile Agnew, Charlotte,
N. C., and Mrs. Charles Fink.
Summerville; two sons, Paul W.
Afepew, Atlanta, and P. S.
Agnew, Greenville, S. C.; one
sister, Mrs. L. A. Jennings,
Huntington Park, Calif.; six
' grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at

J. D. Hill Funeral Home with
the Rev. Donald Trent and the
Rav. W. E. Hotchkiss officiating.

Dies; Funeral
Held in Tenn.
Mrs. Foye Moseley Barker, 57,
of 4313 Hixson Pike, Hixson,
Tenn, died Feb. 11, at 9:25 p.m.
in the Suburban Hospital, Hix
son, Tenn.
She was born Dec. 30, 1905 in
Menlo, Ga. She graduated from
Menlo High School, and later
from G. S. C. W., Milledgeville,
Ga.
She taught for many years in
the Hamilton County Schools in
Tennessee. She retired because
of ill health about 15 years ago.
Mrs. Barker was a member of
the Wesleyan Class of the Hixson
Methodist Church.
Survivors Include her husband,
J. Seable Barker, Hixson, one
sister, Mrs. Louis F. Hildreth,
Hixson, one brother, Roy Lee
Moseley, Menlo, Ga., one aunt,
Mrs. James W. Moon, Gadsden,
Ala., several nieces, nephews
and many friends to mourn her
passing.
