Housing Plans

day night when the mayor and
council held its March meeting.
Architect Bobby Toles of Rome
met with the group and a spe
cial committee to discuss the
matter. He outlined the neces
sary procedures and plans were
made for filing an application.
The special housing committee
is headed by the Rev. Billy Jones.
Delivery of the new Menlo fire
truck in expected in about three
montlis, it was disclosed.
Councilmen on hand were
R. W. King, Hill Hall and J. P.
Thornberry. Mayor J. P. Smith

Named to

Miss Lola Keown, of La-
Fayette, was named assistant
director of the Cherokee Re
gional Library at a meeting of
! the Regional Library board, Mrs.
Baker Farrar, chairman, an
nounced this week.
Miss Keown will succeed Mrs.
Beulah Tucker who has resigned
to assume the directorship of
। the Melbourne Public Library,
Melbourne, Fla.
Miss Keown is a graduate of
the University of Georgia,
'Athens, and holds a M.S. in
Library Science from George
Peabody College, Nashville,
। Tenn. At present, she is book
j mobile librarian at the Dalton
Regional Library, Dalton. She

Fayette on April 1.
The library board, upon ac
ceptance of Mrs. Tucker’s res
ignation, commended her for
her outstanding contribution to
