For Alan Duke

ALAN DUKE
A railroad theme was appro
priately used Thursday after
noon when Alan Duke was
honored at a party in celebra
tion of his sixth birthday.
Alan’s father is Henry Duke,
agent for the Central of Geor
gia Railway in Summerville.
The party was held at the
Lyerly Road Scout Hut.
The honoree was dressed as a
railroad engineer, complete with
striped overalls, striped cap and
red kerchief. Favors were red
kerchiefs, balloons and toss
cups.
Games carried out the rail
road theme, including choo choo
Laura and Betsy, of Atlanta, and
Mrs. Norris Whiteside, Sr., of
Pasadena, Calif., were guests of
Miss Mary Penn Thursday.
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. F. F.
Horne and Miss Janice Baker
were Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wayne
Duke, Judy Turner, Evitte and
Aldon Anderson, all of Rossville;
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Anderson and

went surgery Monday at Craw

The birthday cake was a
miniature train with an engine,
car and caboose. The serving of
refreshments was the highlight
of an imaginary train trip, with ■
the refreshments being served '
in an appropriately decorated
lunch bag. The youngsters were
served miniature engine cakes,
ice cream, candy and punch.
Assisting Mrs. Duke with the

Rachel Waters
Attains Dean’s
List at Brenau
Miss Sylvia Rachel Waters, a
student at Hall County School
of Nursing and Brenau College,
Gainesville, was among the stu
dents named on the Dean s List
for the fall semester at Brenau.
Those Qualifying had out
standing averages in all sub
jects during the fall semester.
Another honor given to Miss
Waters was being chosen social
chairman for Hall School of
Nursing.
She was graduated from
Chattooga High School in the
class of 1962 and attended
Shorter College in Rome during
the summer session of that year.
Before graduating she was em
ployed by Chattooga Hospital
‘as a student nurse. She is
majoring in science.
