Smith, to John Hughes Reynolds, IV, son of Mrs. Neal
Reynolds of Rome and John Hughes Reynolds, 111, of
Charlotte, formerly of Rome.
Miss Smith is the grand
daughter of Mrs. Garnett J.
Boling and the late Mr. Boling
of Summerville, and Mr. and
Mrs. Ross P. Smith of Summer
ville.
She is a graduate of Summer
ville High School and is at pres
ent a senior at Shorter College.
Mr. Reynolds is the grandson
of the late Walter Roy and
Wiletta von Kronenbitter Neal
of Savannah and the late
Hughes Turnley and Mary Tay
lor Reynolds of Rome. He was
educated in the Rome city
schools, was graduated from
Shorter College and is at pres
ent a graduate student at Clem
son College, Clemson, S. C.
The wedding will be August 18
at the Summerville Methodist
Church in Summerville.

Rouge. La., has been announced
by the bride-elect’s mother, Mrs.
Charles R. Coons, of Plattsburg,
N. Y„ and Baton Rouge.
Mr. McCarley is the son of a
: former Chattooga Countian, the
former Miss Gladys Rea, and is
the nephew of Mrs. J. Frank Mc-
Connell, of Summerville. Gary
McConnell will serve his cousin
as best man.
Miss Lafeman is the daughter
of Jack Alvin Lafeman, of Ros
well, N. Mex. She makes her
home with her grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Lee, of Baton
Rouge.
The bride-elect and bride

‘Miss Edna 9
A reception in honor of Miss
Edna Perry, Menlo teacher who
is retiring after 42 years service,
will be held Sunday, May 26, it
has been announced.
The fete will be from 3 to 5
o’clock at the Menlo School
cafetorium.
All former students and
friends of Miss Perry are invited
to attend.

Miss Sarah Peppers, who will
wed Wayne Denson May 25, was
honored Thursday night in the
Lyerly School lunchroom with a
miscellaneous shower.

The room was beautifully dec
orated, carrying out a green and
yellow color scheme. A rectan
gular-shaped table was centered
with an artistic arrangement of
lilac and yellow iris and yellow
buttercups.
As the guests entered, they
were greeted by the hostesses
and seated in a semi-circle aside
from the table holding the huge
array of gifts.
Miss Williams presided over
the entertainment and directed
the playing of several games.
Prizes were awarded to Mes
dames Barbara Edwards, Fran
ces Farrow. Bonnie Montgomery
and Claudia Wyatt.
After refreshments of lime
salad, salted nuts, party chips
and crackers, mints, wedding
cookies and lime punch were
served to the guests, the gifts
were opened and displayed.
The honoree, wearing a pink
and white outfit with a match
ing pink rosebud corsage, was
assisted in opening her gifts by
Miss Williams, Betty Joyce Rag
land and Jackie Cook.
About 30 persons attended.

Green Wed at Oak Hill
The charming wedding of Miss Lillian Geneva Yar
brough and Donald Glover Green was performed at 4 pm
Sunday, April 21, at the Oak Hill Methodist Church near
Lyerly. The Rev. S. P. Stone,
pastor of the church, officiated
at the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Nathaniel Ethridge
Yarbrough of Summerville Route
2, and Mr. and Mrs. Glover
Green, of Cloudland.
The church war elaborately
decorated in greenery and white
gladioli. Two wrought iron can
delabra with lighted tapers were
near the white leather and
wrought iron prayer bench.
Lilies of the valley were used in
the garlands of English ivy.
Miss Sharon Floyd, of Lyerly,
played the traditional wedding
marches and accompanied Mrs.
Eugene Mann, vocalist, of Cedar
Bluff, Ala. Mrs. Mann sang "I
Love You Truly”, “Whither
Thou Goest” and The Lord’s
Prayer.
Miss Judy Yarbrough was her
sister’s maid of honor. Other
attendants were Miss Drucilla
Yarbrough, of Washington, D. C.,
and Miss Shirley Willingham, of
Douglasville.
The maid of honor wore a
dress of pale yellow silk or
ganza over taffeta and carried
a bouquet of yellow roses. The
other attendants were attired in
similar dresses in aqua and
carried bouquets of yellow car
nations. Headdresses matched
the material of the dresses and
emphasized an attractive veil.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her brother, Malcolm,
of Arlington, Va. She was lovely
in a gown of white organza over
I Brunswick.
j Mr Ballard attended schools
in Menlo and graduated from
f the University of Georgia where
. he was a member of Alpha Tau
I Omega fraternity. He is pres
ently stationed at the Naval Air
i Station, Norfolk, Va.

basque bodice was embroidered
in silk garlands, extending into
below-elbow length sleeves. The
full gathered skirt, which fell
into a chapel train, featured a
garlanded panel in front and
the back waistline had a large
butterfly bow. The bride wore a
tiara with a tiered imported
Illusion veil. She carried a
bride’s bouquet of feathered
white carnations centered with
a white orchid with lilies of the
valley and love knots tied in the
ribbons.
Charles Green, of Cloudland,
served his cousin as best man.
Groomsmen were Wayne Ship
man. of Cloudland, and Herbert
Willingham, of Douglasville.
After the wedding, the bride's
sister, Mrs. A. H. Mosely, of
Lyerly, entertained with a re
ception. Her home was beauti
fully decorated with wedding
bells and white gladioli. The
five-tiered wedding cake was
decorated in yellow rosebuds.
The table was covered with
a handcut embroidered table
cloth over yellow satin. The
punch and mints also carried
out the yellow color scheme.
The bride’s book was kept by
Miss Lovern Yarbrough and
those assisting in serving were
Miss Charlotte Yarbrough and
Mrs. Robbie Daido.
Mrs. Yarbrough, mother of
the bride, wore an ice blue
brocaded dress. Mrs. Green,
mother of the groom, was
attired in a pastel beige sheath.
Both wore corsages of yellow
roses.
Mrs. Green wore for her wed
ding trip a pastel blue two-piece
suite with white accessories and
the orchid from her bridal
bouquet.
Mr. and Mrs. Green are now
at their home in Cloudland.

in mind fl) that the engage
ment announcement should
appear at least six weeks be
fore the wedding and (2: that
the wedding story should ap
pear the week immediately
following the wedding.
We have both wedding and
engagement forms at the of
fice which you may use if you
wish.
It is a good idea to have
the bride photographed in her
wedding dress before the wed
ding so you will have the pic
ture back in time to use along
with the story immediately
after the wedding. The dead
line is 5 p.m. Tuesdays.
