and Mr. and Mrs. Oren Hart
line.

Saturday and, if successful, re
ceive a high school certificate,

certificate or military discharge
and furnish their own pencil and

Free Food Now Available to
Needy, Expectant Mothers
Chattooga County expectant
mothers who can qualify may
now receive free government
surplus foods, the Department
of Family and Children's Serv
ices (formerly Welfare Depart
ment) has announced.
The woman and her entire
family will be eligible to re
ceive food assistance during her
pregnancy and two months after
delivery of the mother will go
to the Department of Public
Health Prenatal Clinic and se
cure an examination and state
ment from a public health offi
cial substantiating that she is
pregnant. She must also qualify
as being needy.
This is being done over the
state at the suggestion of the
Junior Chamber of Commerce’s
committee on mental retarda
tion. Mrs. Bruce Schaefer, direc
tor of the state FACS depart
ment, states.
Working on the theory that
Georgia’s high incidence of still
births, premature babies, and
mental retardation, is directly
associated with the poor health
and nutritional habits, Eugene
Oberdorfer Jr., prominent young
Atlanta businessman and chair
man of the Jaycee Committee,
secured the enthusiastic support
of the Medical Association of
Georgia, the Department of
Health, the Department of Edu
cation. the U. S. Department of
Agriculture, as well as the De-

the beginning of a new lecture
series at the local Kingdom
Hall, 3rd Street, beginning at 4
p.m. Sunday.
Leonard Wallace, a minister
with Chattanooga’s central con
gregation, will speak on the sub
ject, “Does God Have a Name?’’
On succeeding Sundays, other
topics with Chattanooga speak
ers will be featured, Mr. Cook
stated. Among the many
themes to be discussed are:
“Does God Favor a Union of
all Churches?”; “Relief From
Tension in a Troubled World”;
“Death—a Doorway to What?”
And, in early November. Wade
Behr, formerly associated with
the local group, will address
Summerville Witnesses on, “Are
the Nations Headed for Arma
geddon?”
