Western Auto
Holds Formal
Opening
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at
8:30 a.m. today (Thursday) will
formally open the handsome
new Western Auto Store in Sum
merville.
A three-day sale, accompanied
by many gifts, will follow.
The big store is located at the
corner of West Washington
Street and Cox Street and two
new features are the service de
partment and the free parking
area.
Frank Prince, who had owned
and operated the Western Auto
Store at its old location since
1941, is the owner-operator. His
son, Jerry Prince, is manager of

in Nashville, Jacksonville and
Atlanta.
The new beige brick structure
has 8,520 square feet ot space—
considerably more than the old
store on Commerce Street. It is
all-electric and has a glass
front, beige tile floor , pastel
walls and the latest style display
fixtures.
A complete toyland is now
being opened in the store, which
also is broadening its other lines
such as sporting goods, paints,
small and large appliances, tele
visions, radios, garden equip
ment, etc.
A truckload of goods for which
there is no room in the store
will be on display in front of the
store during this week-end and
the items will be sold directly
from the truck, says Mr. Prince.

Rev. Hyde to
Speak Sunday
At Menlo
The Rev. Donald A. Hyde, who
has accepted the pastorate of
the Menlo group of Presbyterian
churches, will speak at the
Menlo Church Sunday, it has
been announced
He will speak at 11 a.m. and
7:30 p m.
Church leaders invite the pub
lic to hear the Rev. Mr. Hyde,
who was pastor of the group of
churches some 30 years ago.
The store will be open until 8
p.m. today through Saturday
and prizes will be given at 7 p.m.
each day. You do not have to
be present to win. These prizes
include tires, silver serving set,
muffler, seat covers, hair dryer,
hobby kit and rod and reel.
Assisting Mr. Prince and his
son at the store are their wives
and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Mc-
Sherry, Fred Reynolds, Jerry
Williams and Paul Cooper.

Mr. Thompson
Dies in Ala.
Walter Seth Thompson, 38,
Trussville. Ala., brother of Mrs.
G. Emmett Smith, of Trion, died
at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in a vet
erans hospital in Birmingham,
Ala. after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday in Trussville.
Mr. Thompson had visited his
sister, who is the wife of the
