The Summerville-Trion Rotary
Club has been designated by the
Georgia State Chamber of Com
merce to be the official sponsor
of the STAR (Student Teacher
Achievement Recognition) Pro
gram for the Chattooga County
and Trion school systems, it is
announced by John Fleetwood,
Cartersville, Seventh District
STAR chairman.
“The ever growing impact of
the STAR competition on our
state and nation can be largely
attributed to the assistance of
civic-minded organizations like
this one,” he said.
Sani Cordle Cottage
Burns Thursday

A furnished Cloudland cottage
belonging to Chattooga Court
Clerk Sam Cordle is the latest
house to burn in a series of fires
in the Menlo area.
The cottage burned about 2:30
a.m. last Thursday. Nothing was
saved, it is reported.
Several other houses in the
Menlo area, most of which were
unoccupied, have burned in re
cent weeks. Some residents sus
pect an arsonist is at work.

GREYHOUND SUED
IN TRAFFIC CASE
Two damage suits totaling over
SIOO,OOO have been filed in Chat
tooga Superior Court against the
Greyhound Corporation.
The plaintiffs are Kinzel Par
rott, who is asking $2,601.05, and
Wiley Parrott, who is seeking
$107,045.
The suits are the result of a
traffic accident Oct. 14, 1961, in
which Wiley Parrott was in
jured.

Inn into a Trion city hall.

A Summerville man was “bet
ter” at Chattooga Hospital Wed
nesday after he reportedly shot
himself Sunday.
Summerville police said Wil
liam Earl (Cheeter) Norton, 23
Montgomery Street, told them
he shot himself, apparently in
tentionally. He was shot in the
stomach, it was stated.

event will be a procession of
