MR. GRESHAM
GRESHAM NAMED
TO SUMMERVILLE
POWER DISTRICT
William R. Gresham, the Geor
gia Power Company’s local man
ager at Montezuma, has been
named assistant district man
ager of the company’s Summer
ville district, H. M. Oldham, of
Rome, vice president, announced
this week.
In this capacity, Mr. Gresham
will be headquartered in the
Chickamauga area. He will, how
ever, perform company func
tions as Mr. Oldham or District
Manager J. T. Morgan shall
assign.
“Creation of this new post of
assistant district manager in the
Summerville district,” said Mr.
Oldham, “was in recognition of
the district’s ever-increasing
economic importance in our
North Georgia Service area.
Meeting the rapidly growing
electric power needs of our Sum
merville district customers is a
welcome challenge, and under
the capable leadership of Mr.
Morgan and Mr. Gresham, this
challenge will be handled and
handled well.”
The newly-named assistant
district manager was graduated
from Tallapoosa County, Ala.,
High School and joined the
power company as a forestry
crew worker in Columbus. Later
he performed maintenance and
line work in Manchester and
Ashburn. Mr. Gresham has held
local manager posts at Alma and
Richland, and has been Monte
zuma local manager since 1955.
In Montezuma, he has served
as Kiwanis Club director, chair
man of the Macon County Easter
Seal campaign, Montezuma and
Macon County representative on
the Flint River Development
Assn., superintendent of the
First Baptist Church adult Sun
day School department, and vice
president and director of the
Montezuma Chamber of Com
merce. Mr, Gresham also is a
member of the National Rivers
and Harbors Committee.
He is married to the former
Miss Ernestine Pressley Pink
ston, of Opelika, Ala. They have
two children.

Presides at
Seminar
Earl B. (Bill) Self, of Summer
ville, solicitor general of the
Lookout Judicial Circuit is pre
siding over the annual seminar
for solicitors general of Georgia
this week in Athens.
He is president of the So
licitors General Association of
Georgia.
The seminar began yesterday
and will continue through Sat
urday.
Mr. Self gave the Welcome
address yesterday morning and
presided at most sessions.
Among the speakers are Ray
Moore, Atlanta television per
sonality; Dr. Herman D. Jones,
director of the State Crime Lab
oratory; W. o. Brooks of the
Georgia Pardon and Parole
Board; Eugene Cook, attorney
general of Georgia; and others.
Several panel discussions were
planned.
PT A Fall f
Conference
To Be Oct. 26
A delegation of Chattooga
Parent-Teacher Assn, members
is expected to attend the fall
conference of the 15th District,
Georgia Congress of Parents
and Teachers, in Calhoun Satur
day. Oct. 26.
All those interested in attend
ing should contact their PTA
president for details about
luncheon reservations, officials
state.
Registration will start at 9:30
a.m. and the meeting will start
at 10 a.m. Luncheon will be $1.50
and there will be a nursery for
the children.
Mrs. Cicero A. Johnston, state
PTA president, will give the key
note address. Other members of
the state council will be pro
gram participants, bringing in
formation and suggestions on
by-laws, safety, recreation and
other areas of PTA work.
Teachers, school superintend
ents and principals also are in
vited to attend, it was stated.
MRS. WHITE WINNER
Mrs. Albert White, of Lyerly,
was the winner of the electric
blanket given away by the Sum
merville Jaycettes at the Chat
tooga County Fair.
