Morning Glories Can Be
Enjoyed the Year Round
Heavenly blue morning glories
were discussed by Miss Mittie
Dodd Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the
Cherokee Rose Garden Club.
Contrary to popular thought,
these can be used as winter
flowers, Miss Dodd said. By
raising them in pots and using
little trellis, one can enjoy them
the year round, she noted.
Mrs. Billy Allen’s arrangement
was discussed and given con
structive criticism. Mrs. M. M.
Here’s What to Do About
Smudged Stainless Steel
31/ Home Economics Specialists

University of Georgia
Are you bothered with
smudged stainless steel?
Many people who bought
stainless steel or brushed chrome
ippliances because they thought
they would be easier to care for
than enameled ones have found
that they show streaks, smudges
and scratches.
If this description fits you,
ion’t be disheartened for a little
attention will keep those appli
ances gleaming and looking like
new.

University. She is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. George N. Nour
and the granddaughter of Mr.

Allen brought flowers and ma
terials and, while explaining, did
an arrangement.
The meeting time was changed
to 3 p.m. during the winter
months. Mrs. Frank Prince pre
sided.
The meeting was held at the
home of Mrs. Charles Copeland
with Mrs. Hill Bohannan as co
hostess. Fourteen members at
tended.
Regular cleaning with warm,
sudsy water is necessary but
such cleaning will not always re
move stains and streaks. They
require some extra attention.
There are several methods from
which you may choose. One is
to use a liquid detergent just as
it comes from the container. Rub
it on with the grain of the metal
and wipe off with a soft cloth
wiung out of clear, warm water.
Then polish with a soft, dry
cloth.
Another method, which is
especially effective for removing
spots and stains, is to dampen
a soft cloth with full-strength
household ammonia and rub the
spots. Wipe dry and polish. For
stubborn spots you might also try
this suggestion: Make a paste
of a mildly abrasive cleanser
and water and rub onto the
spot. Follow a damp cloth and
then rub dry.
If scratches bother you, don’t '
let them. There isn’t much you
can do about them for all metals
will scratch. These scratches are
usually small and after about
six months they tend to run to
gether like they do on silver and
you yill hardly notice them. In
fact, you may like the patina
they give.
The real secret to cleaning
stainless steel or brushed chrome
to preserve its gleaming satin
finish is to treat only a small
area at a time. With any of the
methods mentioned better re
sults are obtained if a small
area is cleaned, rinsed, wiped
dry and polished before going on
to another area.—By Miss Doris
Oglesby, head, Home Improve
ment Department, University of
Georgia Cooperative Extension
