Redistricting to Be Aired at
Rome Meet On November 7
Seventh District residents are
being urged to attend a Congres
sional redistricting hearing at
the Georgia Power Company
auditorium in Rome at 10 am.
Thursday, November 7.
The hearing is one in a series
being held over the state by
a Congressional Redistrieting
Study Committee, composed of
members of the General Assem
bly. The committee was in
structed by Governor Carl San
ders to make recommendations
on redrawing the state’s 10 Con
gressional districts on a more
equitable population basis.

A suit now pending before the
U. S. Supreme Court asks that
present district lines be declared
void because the population of
the Fifth District, which com
prises Fulton, DeKalb and Rock
dale Counties, is so much greater
than that of the other nine dis
tricts.
State Senator Albert Moore,
of Cedartown, and Rep. Sidney
Lowrey, of Rome, represent the
Seventh District on the study
committee, joined in appealing
to Seventh District residents to
attend the meeting and express
their views.
