‘Family Night’
Plans for a monthly “Family
Night Program ” have been an
■ nounced by the Summerville
Methodist Church.
The programs will be held at
7 pm. on the Wednesdays fol
; lowing the second Sundays in
each month. They will start with
; a covered dish supper and will
be followed by a 30-minute in
formation type program, a
30-minute meeting of all com
missions and a 15-minute meet
ing of the commission chairmen
with the pastor, lay leader and
chairman of the official board,
states the Rev. Mack Driver,
pastor.
The program will be on phases
of the work of The Methodist
Church beyond the local church!
and will be varied, consisting of
speakers, films or local presen
tations, he added.
The Rev. Mr. Driver pointed
out that this new program will j
reduce the number of meetings
each month and give the people;
more time with their families.
The first “Family Night” will j
be on November 13, he said.

For the second consecutive
year, the Georgia Power Com
pany’s newspaper advertising
program has been classified
among the top 10 in the nation
in the utility advertising field.
Public Utility Ad-Views, a
publication which monthly
judges and publishes the best
advertisements in the electric
power and gas industries, placed
Georgia Power fourth in the
nation for the utility’s advertis
ing during the past 12 months.
Georgia Power again was the
only utility in the Southeast to
place among the top 10.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
A harvest festival will be held
by the Lyerly Parent-Teacher
Assn, from 7 to 10 p.m. Thurs
day, Nov. 7.
Proceeds will be used to buy
a steam table for the school
lunchroom.
No admission will be charged,
but the festival will feature such
events as country store, king
and queen contest, cake walk,
dart games, refreshment center,’
guessing games with handsome
prizes and “fun for those age 8
to 80”.
