conferred with Ed Surles, and;
other club officers on Rotary j

Mr. Shipley is an attorney in I
Marietta and is a member and
past president of the Rotary
Club of Marietta, He was elected
a district governor for 1963-64 at
Rotary’s 54th annual convention
in St. Louis. Missouri, last June.
“The visit of the governor,’’
the president of the local club j
said, “is a time for examining ■
the effectiveness of what we are
doing to achieve Rotary goals in
community improvement, in
youth work, in raising the stand
ards of our businesses and pro
fessions, and in doing what we
can as a Rotary club and as indi
vidual Rotarians to help further

Civil Juries
Rule On Suits
Superior Court juries tried
two damage suits during the
October term of Chattooga Su
perior Court.
The defendant was favored in
a case brought by Larry Gene
McGuire, against George Helm#.
McGuire, a 13-year-old boy
whose suit was filed by next
friend, John McGuire, was seek
ing SIO,OOO. The suit grew out of
injuries the boy received April
30, 1960 when his bike ran into
Helms’ parked truck on the
Trion-Mountain View Road after
dark.
In a case brought by Doyce
Haggard against Ben Gardner, a

Ishmael R. Ford, age 95. passed
away at the home of his nephew.
Cicero J. Ford, on 7th Avenue,
early Wednesday. He had made
his home with them over six
years. One brother, Dave Ford,
in Tyler, Tex., and a number of
nieces and nephews survive. Fu
neral was conducted Friday by
Bro. Farris Baird. Interment was
in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ford, of
Nashville, were guests of his par
ents Friday night, having come
to attend the uncle’s funeral
service.

Chattanooga, were supper guests
Sunday of his mother, Mrs.
Annie Tucker.
